People use figures of speech all the time, but that does not literally mean he was "trapped like a rat."

Arbery was clearly free to run the other direction, and you could have seen this with your own two eyes had you bothered to actually look at the evidence.

Now see, I just "burned your @$$" good, but I did not actually and literally "burn your @$$." I did it figuratively.

Arbery was "trapped like a rat" figuratively, but not literally. Literally he could run back into the neighborhood from whence he came.

As far as I know, he was followed for some time. I am unaware of any testimony that he ever used his cell phone to call 911 to report threatening people following him. So, either he had a cell phone, and chose not to do what most people would be expected to do, or, for some reason, he chose to go to that neighborhood, that house, without his cell phone.
