The men's 50km mass start race at the Beijing Games was shortened to 30km but that did little to help Finland's Remi Lindholm, who needed a heat pack at the end of the race to thaw out a particularly sensitive body part.
Lindholm spent just under an hour and 16 minutes traversing the course in howling, freezing winds, leading to his penis becoming frozen for the second time in a cross-country skiing race following a similar incident in Ruka, Finland last year.

I’ve been out on a couple runs in very cold weather where it started to happen to me. I learned quickly about compression shorts and insulation.
I had finger and toe frostbite, as a 10-12yrs old kid, in the BSA at Winter “Klondike Derbys”, and while plowing snow at my 20ac Nursery/Garden Center/Landscape Operation, from 1991-2012, and the pain of thawing-out was excruciating. Both my toes and fingers are still very cold sensitive, at 72.
Blue Knob might be the highest skiable slope in PA, Blue Mountain in Palmerton is the highest vertical in the state, 10’ more for your skiing pleasure.

I used to do a lot of night skiing. As a result of very mild frostbite, my fingers and toes are very susceptible to heat and cold. That’s the only region of my body so affected.
He should buy one of the pipe heaters that keep pipes from freezing.

Hasn’t the poor guy even learned of the heat packs? We used them in our gloves in extremely cold weather. I do know if you pee at -45F it freezes before it hits the ground.
