No, he’s not living with us. He asked once because some drug dealers had “put a hit on him.” I told him no, we couldn’t do that “right now.” He hasn’t asked since. I think he got my drift.

And guess what? The drug dealers decided not to kill him after all. Imagine that!

“Have a younger relative who was diagnosed as schizophrenic (hereditary, not my side). He is in a group home currently.”

Weelllll.... that made a thought cross my mind. Have a slightly younger uncle with the same diagnosis. We were pretty close up until his father passed when I noticed a significant change in his demeanor. Unfortunately (and it may well be a blessing in disguise), it continues to this very day.

It would not surprise me if that dummy thought I was going to place him in a group home. That may explain why he hid his mothers death from the rest of the family for a few months. Found that out via the inter-web. Shame on him and his accomplice.

Effective Natural Remedies for Anxiety

Earth Clinic Team | Modified on Feb 17, 2022
Anxiety Natural Remedies

Nearly 300 million people are said to suffer from anxiety worldwide, slightly less than the number of people suffering from depression. Natural remedies can often alleviate anxiety symptoms caused like shallow breathing, mind-racing, and an inability to relax. Teatments include simple home remedies like cold showers and cardio exercise to supplements like rhodiola.
Promising Natural Cures for Anxiety

In many cases, home remedies can help alleviate symptoms of anxiety. These home treatments work with your body to naturally calm your senses to better facilitate soothing.
Cold Showers

One of simplest and most inexpensive of all natural remedies, cold showers are effective in reducing anxiety. As anxiety increases, so does your body temperature and, in turn, your heart rate. A cold shower helps re-establish your body’s natural temperature and level of blood flow. This option is a quick fix and offers immediate results.
Rhodiola

Rhodiola, or specifically the root, is a plant used in herbal medicine. The plant is considered an “adaptogen” as it helps the body cope with mental, physical, chemical, and environmental stress better.
Probiotics

Probiotics have been shown to have therapeutic effects that extend beyond the gut and into the central nervous system. Taking a probiotic supplement can sometimes help improve brain chemistry because there is a direct line of communication between the gut and the brain. Probiotics can not only improve mental cognition but also reduce symptoms of anxiety.

It should be noted that much more research is needed to identify exactly which strains of bacteria are the most effective to treat anxiety, but research is proving that probiotics may be promising as an adjunctive therapy.
Vitamin B-3

Vitamin B3, more commonly known as niacin, plays a vital role in the synthesis of serotonin. Niacin has been shown to ease anxiety symptoms in some people when used at a dosage of 1,000 - 3,000 milligrams per day.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains a number of vitamins and minerals that help restore natural balance in the body. ACV can relieve high blood pressure associated with anxiety and this can help some people feel less anxious.

One note of caution regarding Apple Cider Vinegar:

While ACV has helped alleviate some of our readers with anxiety, it has also been reported to increase anxiety in other readers. See our ACV side effects page here. If you find this is the case, stop consuming apple cider vinegar immediately. You should feel better within 24 hours, especially if you supplement with Magnesium, Potassium and B Complex supplements.
What Is Anxiety?

A feeling that causes both mental and physical symptoms, anxiety is a pervasive feeling of worry or concern. It often manifests as fear, stress, concern, depression, cloudy thoughts, or general unease. Additionally, you may also experience physical symptoms such as fatigue, restlessness, and muscle tension.

There are a number of different anxiety disorders with specific causes or stressors. Panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and generalized anxiety disorders are all common. Any of these conditions may be triggered by a specific event or factor or the manifestation of a lifetime of stress or stressful experiences.
What Are Common Symptoms of Anxiety?

Anxiety has hundreds of symptoms. What’s important to remember is that symptoms may change according to the type of anxiety someone has. Some of the most common symptoms of anxiety include:

Nervousness
Restlessness
Rapid Heart Rate
Rapid Breathing
Muscle Twitching
Chest Pain
Trembling or Shaking
Lethargy or Low Energy
Insomnia
Feeling of Danger
Feeling of Dread
Feeling of Panic
Excessive Sweating
Inability to think clearly
Diarrhea
Loss of Appetite
Belching
Obsessing over a particular event over and over again
Dizziness
Headaches
Lightheadedness
Yawning

There are programs for YOU. As a family member of a drug user, you need to learn how to deal with your own issues and let him have the dignity to live life the way he chooses. The programs are basically free.

Start with the longest running program, Al Anon, which is for family members of “problem drinkers” — commonly known as alcoholics. Then there is NarAnon and various other 12 step family groups.

Give them a try. It is a room full of people who all had almost exactly the same problem you have, so they’re an excellent support group. Their advice will sometimes be counterintuitive.

Once you’re free from the codependence, worry, and wrapped-around-the-axel thinking, you’ll find your life is free from having to accept unacceptable behavior.

One of the things I have noticed is that they will say ANYTHING to get what they want. Part of addiction is constantly selling your soul.
The problem with marijuana is that it has a history of lies surrounding it. It is addictive. It can harm you. You have to take it seriously. I have a basement full of it but I don’t currently use it. I just grow it. But if you want to sleep really well, cannabis(CBD, Delta 8) does the trick.

Drug addiction is the disease to which I was referring. Addiction as a disease has been long recognized as such in the medical profession. One cannot merely decide to stop one’s “sinful choices” and behavior and no longer be an alcoholic or addict. You apparently have something about the “medical model” that has impacted your understanding to the specific issue of addiction. If that is the case, then why can’t everything in medicine be wrong? Seeing drug addiction as a disease is not an attempt to “excuse people” from sinful behavior, responsibility or bad choices. In the Gospel, people thought the blind man was blind because of his sins of his parents. Your position seems to be an analog to that.

By your answer I presume you are not familiar with AA, Al-Anon or Narc-anon. If I am wrong on this, then I really do not understand your answer. If correct, I used to be where you are. While nondenominational, the origins of AA are Christian-based, it is not restricted to Christians, but open to all. Addicts who are Christian often find God as integral to their initial and lifetime recovery. If you do nothing else, pray daily for those who are addicted, and for their loved ones who are impacted by it.

I once caught him bringing marijuana into our house...

Root of the problem right there. A good friend has the exact same problem with his nephew. He recently came back from a visit with him and he said his nephew was absolutely off the wall crazy. Talking about seeing through floors and other crazy stuff.

Total weed head and has been for 20 years or so.

I told my wife I thought he needs to be institutionalized. But she says there is no institutionalizing people like that anymore, "thanks to your hero Reagan."

Absolute bullsh*t lie spread by media liars and liberals back in the 1980s. Deinstitutionalization occurred in the mid 1960s. They simply opened up the asylums and let people out.

The medical profession is at odds with Scripture, including many Christian organizations. The sinful use of drugs is not a foreign pathogen, therefore, it is not a disease, but a sin problem. As for the blind man, bad theology is bad theology; and that was the main point.

And yes, I am very familiar with AA.

Actually a clinic in Boston around 1800 figured out that proper nutrition, exercise, and regular hours worked wonders for many of the mentally ill referred to them. Nutrition, especially is something that is often overlooked today.

- - - - - - -

It’s harder to do that today because people sell food with supplements.

Milk sellers threatened by the government add vitamin a to skim milk.

Excess vitamin a can cause mental problems.

In the 1800s, people who liked skim milk could drink skim milk regularly and reduce their stored vitamin a.
