For years, it has been my position that the threat of radical Islam implies an imperative to focus security measures on Muslims. If searching for rapists, one looks only at the male population. Similarly, if searching for Islamists (adherents of radical Islam), one looks at the Muslim population.
And so, I was encouraged by a just-released Cornell University opinion survey that finds nearly half the U.S. population agreeing with this proposition. Specifically, 44 percent of Americans believe that government authorities should direct special attention toward Muslims living in America, either by registering their whereabouts, profiling them, monitoring their mosques, or infiltrating their organizations.

Japanese & Italians/germans were interned at near equal numbers. The “relocations” of Japanese were the difference, ostensibly to ‘protect’ them as well as clear them off the coast, which it was supposed might be invaded in ‘42.
The entire thing might have been a bit more (but not entirely) defensible if it didn’t involve large scale theft of the property of American citizens.

US forces and equipment (especially ammo) in California was inadequate...AND, 80% of all US aviation manufacturing was sitting undefended on the west coast...all of it within naval gunboat range of ships at sea. People had daily and almost hourly scares about an attack to US cities on the West coast....

There was no significant spying on the US by Japanese-Americans.
The Japanese residents of the Hawaiian Islands were never interned. Hawaii was our major Pacific base and its economy would have crashed to a halt without most of its then population.
This fool should read the combat history of the 100th Regimental Combat Team, 100% Japanese-American, and its Medal of Honor citations to learn just how disloyal this population was, as in never.
