Neil Young’s music is back on Spotify.
Last month, Young removed his library from Spotify after the service refused to censor Joe Rogan. But just a few weeks later, Young’s team quietly reuploaded his music, says FOX Business. That’s what you call an unsuccessful boycott.

Young cried that Rogan was spreading “false information about vaccines — potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation.” He told Spotify it “can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”
Spotify chose Rogan but added that it hoped Young would return soon. He returned soon, indeed.
OutKick’s Anthony Farris recently discussed Spotify’s decision:
Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, is housed exclusively on Spotify and generates an estimated 11 million listeners per episode. Young’s music is estimated to attract about 6 million listeners per month.
If Young wonders whether his silly, embarrassing demand has resonated with people, all he has to do is scroll through social media. Apparently, the market for a 76-year-old has-been with shit music and even shittier opinions isn’t as robust as it once was.
Young’s reps and Spotify did not respond to FOX Business’ request for comment, A spokesperson from Warner Bros. Records, however, told FOX it had “no comment or statement.”
I don’t see how this makes Neil Young a hypocrite really. He and his comrades did make Joe Rogan acquiesce and apologize multiple times, and also ultimately over 100 of the Rogan podcasts were removed from the site.
To me, it looks like a triumphant return for Young.
Agree with you more than you might realize. Don’t wanna wear a mask. But I can’t lie, might go along with mask theater for a couple of hour Who show.
But do disagree with “might as well submit to taking the poke as well”. Don’t think a mask is Russian roulette putting me in danger of death, a blood clot, heart inflammation, a heart attack, stroke, Bell’s Palsy, etc.
But, you prick my conscience. I probably shouldn’t help prop up mask theater and phony science. Let concert industry keep having 30% and more lower attendance and revenue. Probably won’t be at Who show or Rod Stewart/Cheap Trick in Cincinnati in July.
Take it back off.
“did make Joe Rogan acquiesce and apologize multiple times”
Briefly thought Joe Rogan might be the new Rush Limbaugh. So wrong. Didn’t know he’s actually liberal on most things. Will hammer media and question some dominant narratives but lacks Rush’s spine/fortitude under intense liberal pressure attacks. A bit like Maher. Liberal but not insane Woke.
It returned so quietly that nobody has heard it.
LOL.
Damn straight.
It truly amazes me that a guy who made his name protesting government lies is now a government pro censorship stooge. Leftism eats away the brain over the years.
I still argue that their performance of Won't Get Fooled Again at The Concert for New York after 9/11 may have been the single greatest moment in rock...they simultaneously revived the hopes of the firefighters AND fanned the flames of anger nationally. It was magnificent. Compare that to Neil Young whining about a podcaster or any other rocker including the Stones who were last relevant when Bittersweet Symphony was released...I'll take The Who continuing to perform and show young kidz how it's done with this upcoming tour any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
And if you have some money to spend, catch them at the site of Woodstock/Bethel Woods (where there no vaxx mandate).
Maybe he took a look at his life and realized he was an old man.
Concurring bump...its my understanding that he sold his music library to a Wall Street investment firm a while ago.
Half The Who : Pete and Roger . I saw them at Woodstock when I was 17 . No interest in seeing them again in their 70’s .
For sure.
Many of these fools would have despised what they have become.
Neil just wanted to get name out there, and so he inserted himself into the Joe Rogan story to generate sales.
A pathetic Leftist fell for it hook, line and sinker.
Pathetic...
You are correct. Live Rust is blanked out. Will not play.
Therefore, old Kneal ain’t around.
Look who comes crawling back...
There are some FReepers and people in real life that will tell you I am good at being a prick P-) Have a great day!
As far as "But do disagree with “might as well submit to taking the poke as well". I apologize, I wasn't trying to equate the two physically. My point is that I've gotten to the point that I honestly feel that giving away even a little bit of freedom, or sovereignty to the would be tyrants in our lives is just the same as giving it all away. They want nothing less, and will take your acquiescence as an invitation to try and take it all.
I see now that October 12 and 13, 1982 were the Shea Stadium, Flushing, Queens, New York dates for that Farewell Tour. I can’t remember if I was there on the 12th or the 13th.
Check out this short documentary covering the Who’s two concerts at Shea Stadium that month. Separate interviews were done at that time with both Townsend and Daltrey before the first show that were quite revealing. Daltrey, powerful and driven, was clearly at his wit’s end contending with the brooding and dramatic Townsend. But the Who was Townsend’s band, and Daltrey, being also both sensitive and intelligent, knew when not to argue with or unduly challenge Townsend.
