Preston Settles turned to a Brooks School teammate during a basketball game last Saturday with an unusual complaint, especially for a 15-year-old boy whose athletic résumé contains entries for hockey, football, soccer, and lacrosse.
“My heart feels like it’s spasming,” Settles told his friend.
Moments later, the Newton teenager collapsed on the gymnasium floor as his parents rushed to his side, wondering if their son had fainted or was having some sort of seizure.
“After a period of time lapsed, it was clear that neither one of those were the case,” said the boy’s mother, Lisa M. Owens, who is a doctor. “He stopped breathing.”

I find these statement to be contradictory and I don't believe the 2nd one.

When I played sports in high school, we always had to have a physical exam at the start of the year. My blood pressure was always normal, but in the high-normal range. I had a heart attack at age 39. I don't smoke; I don't drink; and I don't take street drugs. They didn't believe me in the emergency room until the blood tests came back. I now have the Mercedes-Benz of pacemakers but I'm almost 72.

His aorta ruptured in his sleep, a congenital defect. I’d moved to SoCal that year and didn’t know him but a lot of the class had gone to school together since first grade and it came as a real shock to them.
We had several more deaths over the next two years but those were easier to explain, the drug culture had arrived.
