It sounds a little like the situation in A Handmaid's Tale where lower class women carry babies to term for the families of the ruling class. The baby was carried by a surrogate until it was born, and then the proud couple could display it as something that they had together.

Normalizing this acting by mental patients isn’t helping; just ask Juicie Smollett. It is a very sad and destructive lifestyle, with AIDS as only one of many medical issues they face - yet now TV commercials are encouraging HIV+ to engage in sexual acts because medicine MAY reduce the risk of transmission to the partner/victim.
