As the public learned this week about Donald Trump “improperly removing” White House documents, the former president’s aides characterized the records as largely trivial. The Republican’s team told The Washington Post that the items that found their way to Mar-a-Lago “included correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which Trump once described as ‘love letters,’ as well as a letter left for Trump by President Barack Obama.”
The explanation wasn’t especially credible at the time, and soon after, it started unraveling. For one thing, the controversy wasn’t about a handful of records; it was about 15 boxes filled with documents Trump wasn’t supposed to take. For another, the materials weren’t just harmless keepsakes; they reportedly included sensitive records believed to be classified.

Remember when Steve Benen [author of this hitpiece] broke the news about Zucker and his girltoy Gollust?
NEITHER DO I.
Though Benen undoubtedly knew about it YEARS AGO.
The Brandon Media can have a nice big steaming mug of STFU, to go with the steaming piles they call "news".
What is this?
Runaway inflation and crime, draconian lockdowns, record drug overdoses...and the left is making hay over a nothing burger.

Wasn’t she also given a pass in a libel suit because the judge deemed her work satire or parody lol
If there is a silver lining to the dark cloud of non-stop, over-the-top, knee-jerk Trump hate and smears coming from the Left, it is this:
Nobody on our side listens to a word they say anymore.
They can produce the appearance of a scandal in their Leftist echo chamber, but it won’t influence one single vote.
Anyone who gets up in arms about this would never have voted for Trump in the first place.
Two words: Hillary’s server.
Three more words: State Department Blackberries.
Investigate one, investigate all. Let’s see where the criminal behavior really lands.
From your lips to God's ear...
Plausible, certainly plausible. But our federal government would never entrap its domestic political enemy, would it?

Bingo! Yes Trump was still POTUS at the time when these documents were allegedly “mishandled” and therefore as POTUS cannot be charged for mishandling of classified information!
Hearing it here and discussing it helps prevent being blindsided with it by liberals later on.
Some people here are commenting as if Sandy Berger got away with taking classified documents. In fact, however, he was charged. Prosecutors followed the common practice of giving him lighter punishment in exchange for a guilty plea.
Specifically, Berger was sentenced to: a fine of $50,000, additional payment of $6,905 for administrative costs, two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and loss of his secuity clearance for three years. The plea deal let him avoid prison time. He later surrendered his law license rather than face bar disciplinary action.
He took five papers – either five (non-original) copies of the same document or the original and four copies, I’m not clear which. Prosecutors who are out to get Trump may be able to hit him with much more extensive removals.
I don’t know whether, in the disorder of packing up and leaving the White House by January 20, Trump and his staff made some mistakes about document handling. All I’m saying is that the Berger case isn’t very persuasive as a defense. He did NOT get away scot-free.
There is absolutely no record of Sandy Berger paying a nickle towards that fine, a fine that was given in lieu of 20 years in a federal prison. Feel free to show us where he did.
