Lindsey Jacobellis (Roxbury, CT) picked up the U.S.’s first gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics with a win in Women’s Snowboard Cross on Wednesday.
At 36-years-old, Jacobellis is now the oldest American woman to win a winter Olympic medal of any color in any sport and the oldest snowboard medalist ever. The Beijing Winter Games marks the fifth Olympic appearance for the Connecticut native. It has been 16 years since Jacobellis, who was not expected to contend for a medal in Beijing, has finished on the Olympic podium.

Finally, a gold! The oldest American woman to win a Winter Games medal, and the oldest snowboard medalist. I guess age and experience DO mean something!
Shawn White is also supposed to compete...and he's 35. He's not expected to win, but that's also what they said in PyeongCheng...and he won the gold.

I read it as skin color since the press is so obsessed with that. (See Tagline.) However, after review, they probably meant Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals.

The olympics are unwatchable. They keep running a commercial with a group of female runners at the starting gate. All are white except for the American. The camera pulls in on her and the voice over states “I am black surrounded by whites”. Who cares!
