Congress should withhold funds from this immediately!
When we have a President who will sign the bill, we should require that these records be deleted, and impose strict criminal penalties for any federal official who attempts to create a registry.

the fbi background checks are supposed to be deleted but as the 2A foundation pointed out there is no penalty for not deleting them
Yeah, hate to tell him but NICS, the Federal firearm background check system, is a de facto registry and has been since 94. It’s not supposed to be by law, but despite Congress telling them to purge their records, they never do. Even defunding their archival systems hasn’t stopped it.
