MIAMI — A man and his 11-year-old grandson found a little more than they were looking for during a weekend fishing trip. The pair pulled two .50-caliber Barrett sniper rifles out of a canal near Miami.
Duane Smith told the Miami Herald he saw a YouTube video on magnet fishing and decided to give it a try on Sunday. They dropped a 5-pound magnet in the C-102 canal in southern Miami-Dade County.

No he's not, especially when it comes to the legal ownership of a .50 Cal Barret rifle. He has stated repeatedly that they are illegal to own in Florida and I have asked him repeatedly to cite the law that bans them.
He has yet to do so.......
Do you own any firearms with the serial numbers filed off?
Really?
Seriously?
No I don't!
You obviously haven't been paying attention, the argument is whether or not a Barret 50 Cal can be legally owned in Florida. This has nothing to do with the weapon that had its serial number filed off.......
Really?
Don’t be so fast to claim them. Someone ILLEGALLY filed the SNs off.
Both of the firearms found had their serial numbers filed off.
They are both illegal to own.
No shit Sherlock!
Now pay attention very carefully, this argument is about legal ownership of a .50 Cal Barret, it has nothing to do with the two weapons that had the serial numbers filed off.
Let me repeat myself so that you fully understand what we are discussing here.
Once again, this argument between me and TexasGator deals strictly with the legal ownership of a .50 Cal Barret rifle which he clams are illegal to own.
Got It?
Point me to the comment where anyone said a .50 Cal Barret
with an unaltered serial number is illegal to own,
and I shall thoroughly chastise them.
Guess you have a very different understanding of Texas Gator's posts (including #32 & #41), than do some others here (including 'yours truly' ;>)...
Guessing the ones you linked to DO NOT have the serial numbers filed/ground/drilled off, like the illegal ones in the article?
I have. Dope isn't my thing, but the WoD is the worst kind of Federal power expansion that has drifted over to things like... guns.
Just as some of us warned it would. And here we are.
?????
Yep. Don’t own one. But do own a bear gun.
My father was an armorer during WWII, worked on Quad 50’s and Bofors. I have 3 50BMG cartridges in linked feed chain. (bullets were pulled and powder removed, smile) At an early age, I knew what a round it was. That was before it had the sophisticated recent advanced bullet design.
I reload for extended family. You have to really scratch today to get that job done.
Sounds like abridgements and deprivation of rights under color of law.
Smile. Yes, quite a variety of photo’s on that website.
Imagine a 20mm rifle?
The average guy thinks that the $5-10 per round for 50BMG is expensive. I’d hate to buy 20mm ammo (or even components).
I like big guns. But am not as big as the guy in the photo you referenced.

My father and I used to magnet fish in the 1970s but only found old pocket and fillet knives below fishing piers.
Post #43 and every subsequent question I posed to him which he refused to answer.
