New Law Will Install Kill Switches In All New Cars

Dang, I'm usually on top of the news but I missed seeing this one. If this has been posted please remove.

According to an article written by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr, hidden away in the recently passed infrastructure bill, the very one I warned before would negatively impact drivers across the country if it were to pass, is a measure to install vehicle kill switches into every new car, truck, and SUV sold in this country. The regulation likely won’t be enforced for five years, so maybe there’s time to do something about this.

As we’ve seen both in this country and others recently, what constitutes “law-abiding” can change drastically overnight. For example, in September a car was pulled over in New Zealand and the occupants arrested when police discovered the trunk was full of Kentucky Fried Chicken meals. They were smuggling the fast food to customers in locked-down Auckland, against quarantine measures. Yet not too long before, delivering restaurant orders to people was considered a reputable, legal activity.

And insurance companies want to make you have a driver monitoring system to track how “safely” you drive.

“ This is quite clearly a question of freedom - which the car has always represented.”

In my lifetime, “freedom” has won exceedingly few battles with “security”, “safety” and “authority.”

A good idea like the “vaccine” that will never be mandatory?

I knew this would happen. Just imagine the power! The fascists in government will be able to stop their enemies dead in their tracks. Two seconds after you post on FB that you didn’t get the vax your car will stop and move no more. Impossible? Give them 2-3 years.

What will they do when an illegal wants a car?
A lot of them don’t even have a license.

I see a Soros-funded constitutional court battle in the future.

By all means, shackle the 99.999999% of the people to keep them safe from the remaining .000001%.

This government is laying in protections for itself, not for the people. Look at this in light of the way criminals are handled these days.

It is a good idea but with the US government you know they will violate any and all laws or policies as needed with these switches.

Watch for a quick market to spring up by-passing this option and older cars to be sought after.

It won’t work that way. It will be a “fail safe” design that requires the communications to start and then periodically during operation.

If you incur a fine, it is deducted from your banking account immediately.

I’m sure we’re headed for the world portrayed in “Demolition Man”

“John Spartan you are fined one credit for a violation of the verbal morality code!”

I will not comply. I will NOT buy a vehicle with a government-controlled "kill switch" any more than I would buy a "smart" gun-- same thing, ceding my sphere of control to some central government.

Wake up, people!

Yes, but to be fair, Peart got the idea for “Red Barchetta” from the story “A Nice Morning Drive” in Road & Track magazine, I believe it was.

My vehicles are a ‘37 Chevy truck, a ‘68 Chevy truck and a ‘69 Mustang. I restored them from the ground up. I don’t intend to ever buy a new car and will never allow anyone to force Nazi BS like this on my stuff.
