Dang, I'm usually on top of the news but I missed seeing this one. If this has been posted please remove.
According to an article written by former U.S. Representative Bob Barr, hidden away in the recently passed infrastructure bill, the very one I warned before would negatively impact drivers across the country if it were to pass, is a measure to install vehicle kill switches into every new car, truck, and SUV sold in this country. The regulation likely won’t be enforced for five years, so maybe there’s time to do something about this.
As we’ve seen both in this country and others recently, what constitutes “law-abiding” can change drastically overnight. For example, in September a car was pulled over in New Zealand and the occupants arrested when police discovered the trunk was full of Kentucky Fried Chicken meals. They were smuggling the fast food to customers in locked-down Auckland, against quarantine measures. Yet not too long before, delivering restaurant orders to people was considered a reputable, legal activity.

This is just wrong. Criminals will have this before law enforcement.
A good idea that will be abused.
There are more and more reasons to buy a used car every day.
Criminals with extort bitcoin with this threat.
It is a terrible idea and the only reason the government wants it is to abuse people.
Good people do not need a kill switch in their car.
Unless you want to buy parts for it.
Imagine a total war where the ChiComs hack every Vehicle in United States before a massive attack. These control freaks are ridiculous, insane, and dangerous.
Thanks for driving up the price of my used car because no one will want to buy those things.
“Good people do not need a kill switch in their car.”
Stolen cars, high speed chases, if used judiciously, it would save lives. There is that word “if”. It will be abused.
And criminals will know how to disable it!!!!!
Nelson
no way government will misuse this. LEO, like the asset forfeiture laws, will only use this sparingly.
Mandatory car kill switches, surveillance cameras on our roads nationwide…..
Everything but real infrastructure.
But we knew that.
I did Nazi this coming.
Cool new growth industry - removing kill switches from new cars :)
Anyone with a working knowledge of cars could disable them.
I like kill switches. I’ve installed one in every car I own.
But I like freedom more. You want a kill switch, put in a kill switch. If not, don’t. It’s none of the government’s business either way.
What the freak is a “kill switch”?
Kill Bill Switch?
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better vanished time
Killswitch Engage, good band.
“...if used judiciously...”
I don’t care who you are, that right there is funny!
