Joshua Morgan was out shopping when he received a notification through his Ring doorbell in Upland, California, that an Amazon delivery driver was at his property's electric gates with a package

This is the tense moment an Amazon driver came face-to-face with a huge black bear as he delivered a package in California.

Joshua Morgan was out shopping when he received a notification from his Ring doorbell in Upland, San Bernardino County, that a driver was at his property's electric gates.

Footage from the doorbell camera shows the bear run across the front of the gate just seconds before the driver arrives.

In the video, taken last month, Mr Morgan is heard telling the delivery driver over the camera speaker: 'Hey guy, stop right now! There is a bear right there!

'Can you hear me? That's a bear! Back away! Go back to your car, that's fine!'

The delivery driver steps back slightly before the bear climbs to the top of the property's stone wall and slowly walks towards him.

The driver keeps still but lifts his arms up to make himself appear bigger than the animal.

Don't try this with a Grizzly.

He was just lucky the bear didn’t have a nasty personality. Each one of those critters is different, some could care less about people and others want you for dinner.

eh ... OK. The big deal here is it was caught on camera.

Back last August I was walking the dog (a 9 lb Shih Tzu) at 10PM and startled a bear in a neighbors yard. He ran about 15 feet then stopped and apparently thought to himself, wait a minute, I'm a freakin' bear, what am I running from. So he turned around and stood on his hind legs while he made his decision on his next move. He stared at me, I stared at him ... and then he probably thought what the hell animal has a halogen light in the middle of his forehead (I use a headlamp when I walk at night), so he slowly started to back away, and so did I.

Now I carry a 45 when I walk the dog.

Are bears normal where you are? I grew up in Kent. Think I’d make a potty spot for my doggie near the house.

Last June I was at my parent's place in PA. One day, I stepped outside and sat down on the glider for my morning coffee and saw something big and black through a densely foliated trellis. I looked closer and as I started to peer around the vines for a better look, this guy started strolling across the yard in front of me:

Reminds me of the story about a hiker who related his encounter to friend when confronted by a bear.

I took off running and when the bear go close I quickly stopped.
When the bear slid by I took off running in another direction.

Again when the bear got close I stopped again and when the bear got close I stopped and when he slid by again I took off in another direction.

The friend interrupted the story and said if that would have been me I would have s**t all over the place.

The hiker answered “What do you think the bear was sliding on?

I grew up on Squak Mtn, and lived on Tiger Mtn for a while, and now I am on Cougar Mtn. Yes, bears are normal here, even in Kent. You just see them a bit more when you are not in the city. (That said, when I lived in Issaquah I watched one ransack the garbage one day). When on Tiger Mtn, one of them sat on Wife Number 2’s VW bug and did a number 2 off the back of it.
