Well, she was a beauty pageant winner. A portion of her life centered on her looks.

I have seasonal affective disorder but I am NOT suicidal. I just get depressed during the long gray winter months. I’m ready for Spring by March, and where I live, I can still have snow in May. It doesn’t happen every year that way, but it does happen.

(P.S. I’m a native Floridian, so while I love the change of seasons the Midwest brings, the Spring is very late arriving, and Summer is too short.)

What makes them certain it was a suicide?

Thank you, and while I really like this idea, honestly, I have to say it’s how I’ve coped for over 30 years in the Midwest. I do most all of these things already. Seriously, it’s not too bad for me some months.

I get depressed in September once we have our first crisp day of the season, then some after Christmas knowing that it will be mid May before I can start my planting season in earnest. I’m not tired of the snow and cold as much as I am the lack of sunshine.

Sometimes I think I’m like the plants that require full sun. I can grow in the shade or partial sun, but I thrive in high sunlight. I know that’s weird, but sometimes that’s how I feel. Still, I thank you for the link to article. It helped me see how others cope. I appreciate that!

"...Abortion sends addiction, depression and suicides through the roof for women..."

Of that, I have no doubt.

Probably mental illness. Very sad indeed. May God have mercy.

Probably mental illness.

I read that 30% of bipolar people attempt suicide at least once. Not saying she was bipolar. But I found that a stunning statistic.

I’ve been to Denmark in the winter. Absolutely gorgeous people there. Both men and women. And they drink Akvavit. Not horrible. They seemed quite upbeat.

Her body is now broken now, Where was her inner beauty? Her charity work? Her grieving neighbors? The strangers who’s lives she touched? Where was a Christian witness in her life? Her Christian friends?

“I read that 30% of bipolar people attempt suicide at least once....I found that a stunning statistic.”

My sister in law was diagnosed as bi-polar and she did, indeed, commit suicide. And she was under treatment at that time with a therapist (not an MD) who endorsed Sis’s desire not to take the recommended meds. I wanted my mother in law to sue, but she did not.

RIP to this lady, and may the Lord comfort her family and friends.

Terrible to see so many posts on this thread were taken down, I’m sure for good reason, sadly. This is not a subject to be mean or snarky or political about.

I included you in my reply on the other related thread but accidentally wrote “Cecile” not Cecile in the box. Anyway thank you for posting. This is so sad. From her essay in Allure on turning 30:

“To be fair, I didn’t spring from the womb, sword in hand, to fight the good fight and I am certainly not exempting myself from belonging to the go-with-the-flow crowd on occasion. I remember being enamored by “20 under 20” and “30 under 30” lists that tied achievement to youth and called it success — lists that are surely intended to recognize the rarity of accomplishing outstanding feats at a young age. But they had an unfortunate side effect on some young people, who felt encouraged to hoard accomplishments as fast as possible in order to measure up to our peers.

…I discovered that the world’s most important question, especially when asked repeatedly and answered frankly, is: why? Why earn more achievements just to collect another win? Why pursue another plaque or medal or line item on my resume if it’s for vanity’s sake, rather than out of passion? Why work so hard to capture the dreams I’ve been taught by society to want when I continue to only find emptiness?”
