My most recent electric bill charged $00.16 per kWh Including all tax, additional fees, hidden graft... Subject to change.

They want people to drive only electric cars, but there will never be enough charging stations available. I can see long lines, and fights breaking out at them, along with groups of masked thieves storming those places, robbing and beating people sitting in line to charge their car.

EVs are about the environment the same way CoupFlu is about public health.

Let me get this straight ...

You buy an electric car but the nearest ‘recharging hub’ is so far away from your house that your new car flatlines before you can get there to recharge ...

Well thats a plan ...

Sounds like a typical Joe problem/crisis ...

Son-in-Law got an EV...I asked him how many miles to the gallon he got....He just looked at me funny....

THEN I realized what I’d asked...LOL

According to ZapMap, which lists the vast majority of available chargers, nearby rapid chargers were charging no more than £0.39 ($0.52) per kWh. It may not seem like a lot, but those extra pennies do add up over the course of a single charging session.

For instance, I used 15.4 kWh of power at the Shell hub and was charged £7.56 ($10.13) for it. Had I stayed at home and used the Gridserve rapid charger near my house, I would have paid £4.63 ($6.21) for the same amount of power.

According to Shell the Fulham hub uses 100% renewable energy, with on-site solar panels contributing around a quarter of its needs.

Where is the other 75+/-% coming from?

I wonder what all the EV-CultNerds on FR are going to think about this. They must be throwing stuff across the room.

But, I’m thinking....this place has 9 chargers...at a minimum of 15 minutes per for a partial charge on your car. If you’re in line, that’s a considerable wait. Then again, I doubt the liberal hipsters that are doing this are willing to fight each other. Probably pass the time talking about how they’re saving the world with this project or that project or how they support certain causes, so they can show their fellow EV owners just how virtuous, kind, caring and compassionate they are.

And, of course, at some point in the future, things will be really, really, really better, you just wait.

My diesel is well equipped and comfortable,a true champion on the Interstate. I've done Boston to Montreal, and return,on a single tank (810 miles). And refilling the tank takes about 4 minutes at any one of 40,000 stations from coast to coast.

EVs? No thanks...not in this lifetime, and not in the next!

“My car was able to recoup roughly 50% battery power while I sat down to see Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the only thing I had to suffer through were the pre-movie commercials. Plus slower charging helps preserve battery health in the long term.”

Golly. THAT’S a real enticement to switch to a “Displaced Emissions Vehicle”!

I have no objection to people/companies pursuing electric vehicles, but they need to admit they are NOT “emission free”! Or CURRENTLY as convenient as gas.

“And yes, for those that didn’t know, Shell the oil company is also in the EV charging business. So is BP, which is all really weird to think about.”

The author is quite simpleton. The shift to restaurants, travel centers and quick shops at fueling stations has a singular purpose.

So too with these ‘hubs’...particularly for a captive audience.

Liberals want us to go from having lots of fuel choices and competition for gas stations to a single monopoly utility company that they can jack the prices all the hell and control everyone.

As you may already know, many States are 22 cents for electricity, and that price is subject to massive increases if EVs become the norm.

Amazing how little he knows about what he bought and signed on for.

“The key problem is that EV charging, even at ultra-fast speeds, is a time sink. You can’t just roll up, fill up, and be gone within a few minutes. You have to plug in and wait, and that’s something we just cannot avoid. Even the fastest charging cars need at least 15 minutes to recoup a meaningful amount of range - even longer if you want to charge your battery to the 80% mark.”

Meaning if this is our future we'll need four to five times as many 'gas stations' as we have now.

“According to Shell the Fulham hub uses 100% renewable energy, with on-site solar panels contributing around a quarter of its needs.”

Ok, so lets do the math, something that reporters don’t bother with, at least when it comes to Leftist causes:

1. The picture shows 9 standard-sized solar panels per charging station. 2. Each panel will generate a bit over 200W in ideal conditions, so figure 2000 Watts can be generated (again, in ideal conditions).
3. Average sun hours per day in London is a bit under 5 hours, so let’s use 5 hours. This takes into account nighttime, cloudy days, and seasonal variations. It does not take into account shadowing.
4. Therefore, energy generated for the panels over one bay is 10 kWh per day.
5. Since Shell says that represents 25% of the energy used, then the average energy used per bay would be 40 kWh (with 3 coming from the grid).
6. An average car being charged might take this same 40 kWh.
7. Therefore the bay must only be charging ONE CAR per day.

I SERIOUSLY doubt that’s the case...

Moral of the story. They’re playing us by sticking nearly useless solar panels on the roof and then claiming that they’re generating a bunch of power from them.

What else are they lying to us about?

Just for reference, EVs get about 4 miles per kWh. So when electricity is 50 cents per kwh (12.5 cents per mile), you’re basically that same as what it costs in fuel to drive a gasoline car (roughly).

Here is the dilemma...

In today's America, would you rather drive into an "urban" gas station in your $25,000 Chevy Malibu for a 3 minute fill-up, or park at an "urban" EV station in your $45,000 Tesla Model 3 for 30 minutes while you charge up?
