I have distinct and incredibly fond memories of eating frozen pizza as a kid. It was generally an "every now and then treat." And then, WHAM. College happened, and suddenly frozen pizza went from "cute tradition" to "literal lifestyle." I know I'm not the only one here. And the number of brands out there?! Staggering.
Now that I'm a grown adult who actually cooks for a living, I'm usually too busy cooking up something not pizza-related...but TBH, I live for a frozen pizza every now and then. That said, the number of choices out there is overwhelming. Have I ever bought the same pizza twice? Truly unsure. Gotta try 'em all, right?
Common Standards:
• DiGiorno – Rising Crust Original Pepperoni
• Freschetta – Naturally Rising Crust Pepperoni
• Newman's Own – Uncured Pepperoni
• Tony's – Pepperoni
• Red Baron – Brick Oven Crust Pepperoni
House Brands:
• Trader Joe's – Wood Fired Naples Style Uncured Pepperoni
• Whole Foods 365 – Rising Crust Uncured Pepperoni
THE EXPERIMENT In order to be 100% fair here, I knew I had to do a blind taste-test. Bless my very, very willing partner for cooking up seven entire pizzas over the course of a day, and bless the fact that we'll have re-frozen frozen pizza for the next...IDK, year. (Side note: If you're reading this and we're friends, come over for pizza.)

There are actually towns that don’t have a pizza shop in them!
Or, there is one and it’s awful.
That’s my argument for frozen pizza.🧐
And Mystic Pizza aint all that.
been there done that..
they build submarines at electric boat and you call a sub sangwich a grinder? wtf? seriously.
but they tasted good
pep’s drafthaus frozen pizza is the best frozen pizza i have ever eaten...
the cheeseburger bomber is my favorite...
welcome to Tx LOL
my favorite, which I was going to make today -
Scratch homemade thin crust
Homemade creamy pesto sauce
Cut up and pre braised chicken thigh meat
Sautéed sweet banana peppers
Sliced raw sweet onion
Mozzarella
I doctor it up with my own sauteed mushrooms with thyme and it turns out yummy😋....
Little Caesar’s? YUCK!!!
Seriously, learn how your oven cooks things and buy better frozen pizzas if you’re going to eat them.
Brew Pub Lotzza Motzza are pretty good if cooked correctly as are a few others such as Heggies.
Yeah, don’t expect any of them to stand up against fresh pizza, but if you want inexpensive and convenient, easy food, then frozen pizza can be a good option if one doesn’t choose poorly.
Red Baron and Tony’s are crap - as are a lot of the commercial factory frozen pizzas.
Anybody remember the Chef Boyardee boxed pizza, that made you make the dough? Those were the days…
Yep, we prefer the Supreme but with the covid bullshit, we can't always get it so we'll take the pepperoni and add the black olives, mushrooms, onions and sausage {I make my own sausage} to which ever we can buy.
I also like anchovies but only put them on when my wife isn't going to eat any because she hates them {even the smell of them}.
I buy some pizza from a local shop on occasion, but a DiGiorno pizza is so much quicker and hotter {I'm not a cold or left over pizza fan}.
We've tried some of the others on the list but they all come in second place or worse.
better than NY deep dish? ;)

I don’t remember that style when I was in NYC in the late 1950s and early 60s, so I can’t compare deep dish - but the thin crust then was sooo good - I doubt any pizza made today approaches those made then by first and second generation Italians along NYC’s 85th St delis.
good thread, good response.
Yall have a blessed Sunday!
Typically, in order to force his beliefs, he buried the lead
I’d put my aunt Joan’s homemade pizza against anybody else’s.
Note how I did not mention chain pizza places like Pizza Hut, Little Caesars or Dominoes. Those can be even worse choices than frozen.
Everywhere I have lived, there has always been a plethora of local pizzerias, usually mom & pop owned, that make pretty decent fresh pizzas. I try to always go to them to get my pizza fix. I almost never get a bad pizza and I'm helping to support local businesses.
Getting back to the article, anybody who refers to somebody else as a "partner" in a domestic situation always makes me cringe.
Screamin’ Sicilian Supremus Maximus
Tombstone is Plan B, if Screamin’ Sicilian isn’t availalbe.
Screamin Sicilian makes a damn good pizza.
Lots of toppings, good crust and sauce.
A little pricey, but who cares.
Awesome job! Looks like you did more testing and evaluation on these frozen pizzas than the CDC and FDA did on the Covid Vaccines!
twasnt me, some guy named Ross...
