In at least a dozen states, Republican lawmakers have introduced bills seeking to make instruction in public schools more transparent. Pennsylvania’s bill, for example, would require public schools to post their curricula online. Democrats have largely opposed these bills, viewing them as the latest conservative salvo against critical race theory–inspired pedagogy. In vetoing the Pennsylvania legislation, Democratic governor Tom Wolf warned that the “legislation is a thinly veiled attempt to restrict truthful instruction and censor content reflecting various cultures, identities, and experiences.”
Taken literally, Wolf’s statement is false. Requiring schools to be transparent about what they’re teaching does not inherently restrict instruction or censor content. But Wolf, like many progressives, is obviously concerned that if citizens knew what is being taught in schools, then they might demand a change in curriculum.
As debates over school curricula have raged for the past year, progressives have openly expressed anti-democratic views about how the education system should operate. Nikole Hannah-Jones, progenitor of the New York Times’s 1619 Project, made her view clear during an NBC appearance. “I don’t really understand this idea that parents should decide what’s being taught,” she said. “I’m not a professional educator. I don’t have a degree in social studies or science. We send our children to school because we want them to be taught by people who have expertise in the subject area.” Meantime, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe arguably cost himself a second term in the governor’s mansion by admitting that he didn’t “think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

If schools are going to insist on teaching Marxism then the parents and the rest of society have an obligation to stop them and tell them what they are allowed to teach. We pay them and we will have to set the rules and punishment for noncompliance.
A story for those who ever respected the ACLU.
They do not want their indoctrination exposed.
Too late, parents already got to see what is happening as a result of the lockdowns.
The same people ruining public schools and using them for political indoctrination send their loved children and grandchildren to private schools.
Observe what they do, not what they say.
We can’t handle the truth...?
For me it's not "respect," but I believe they've done some good things in the past.
But this stance is disappointing, just wrong.
They decry even possible censorship at schools, while actively calling for more censorship of media organizations, including social media. If it weren’t for double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
It is long past time to tear down the entire public school system in America and completely rebuild it.
The system is worse than a failure. Not only does it fail to teach the basics, it has become a source of communist indoctrination, societal division and hatred against white people.
It does not want to teach the “truth” about history. Ii is a system built upon racist lies and propaganda. It teaches disrespect for America and its founders and it attacks the best features of America.
Many public school teachers don’t even want to show up at school to teach anymore. During the pandemic, they have been paid to stay home.
Of course those in charge want to conceal what they are teaching. It is disgusting and divisive. The idea parents should not know what their children are learning is right out of the propaganda handbook of communism.
Tear public education out, root and branch, and rebuild it so children are not raised in ignorance, hatred and bitterness. We need children to learn respect and not be raised to be at war with their parents’ values and the greatness of their country.
Truthful instruction my a**
They’re NOT YOUR KIDS and maybe it’s time to destroy “public” education if the rot is this entrenched.
Honestly, I thought that’s what a school board was supposed to be, parents overseeing their local school system.
ACLU = American Communist Lawyers Union.
The ACLU and the Southern Poverty Law Center reside in Hell.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
The left could not be doing more to deliberately destroy public education than they already are.
They are raping the souls of your children and making you pay for it. This is the long term consequence of departing from theTorah, the eternal Law of God.
‘You have to pass it to know what’s in it’ .. and even then, it’s 5000 pages with no word search so good luck.
[voiceover in Khmer Rouge reeducation camp] They tell us that God is dead. And now the Party, they call the Angka, will provide everything for us. He says, Angka has identified and proclaims that the existence of a bad new disease, a memory sickness like those that think too much about life in pre-revolutionary Cambodia. He says, we are surrounded by enemies. The enemy is inside us. No one can be trusted.

Taxpayer dollars funded the development of these curricula. They should be publicly available. Period.
That was a great movie.

One reason this played out this way is the dwindling number of Americans in public schools; there is no real “next generation” of American children, so the border gates are flung open to entice a new wave of public school students. My town is “white” in terms of the 60+ age group, and heavily foreign in terms of the 40-and-under age group; it is by design.
