Navy races to salvage stealth F-35 that crashed on aircraft carrier while landing in South China Sea

The U.S. Navy has begun to make plans to recover the F-35C fighter jet that crashed Monday after striking the deck of an aircraft carrier in the South China Sea. The jet is the most advanced stealth fighter jet in the world and would have made an enticing target for China if it had attempted to recover it from the depths of the Pacific Ocean.

The crash of one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world into international waters had fueled speculation that the U.S. Navy might quickly launch a salvage operation to prevent other foreign powers, especially China, from trying to do the same.

Ganyard believes China probably has a general idea of where the jet entered the waters of the South China Sea, making its advanced stealth technology an enticing target for China to launch its own salvage operation.

While Monday's crash marked the Navy's first F-35C crash at sea, it will not be its first operation to salvage an F-35 aircraft.

Late last year, the U.S. Navy helped the British Royal Navy recover an F-35B fighter from the waters of the Mediterranean after it had crashed on takeoff from the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth.

They would just recover or destroy parts. And the ocean isn’t that deep everywhere. (I don’t know where it went down—so I am writing in general.)

Just send a submersible drone down to cut it up, and pick it apart. Then drop a charge on whats left of it.

Greenpeace isn’t going to like that.

We should let them have it so they can copy it......................

Chinese are pretty frugal with money. Don’t they already have the plans?

From the article......your welcome

“It is unclear how deep the waters are where the F-35 fell into the Pacific, but the Navy has considerable experience in salvaging wreckage in deep waters”

Also, apparently the navy has considerable experience in salvaging wreckage in deep waters.....that’s reassuring.

What makes you think they haven't already copied it? In fact, they probably don't need to copy it, since the technology has either been stolen already, or been sold to them by democrats, like the missile technology which went to them under Bill Clinton.

The F-35 has already been purchased and delivered to Australia, Denmark, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, and the U.K.

Plus Turkey was a first tier partner during the development, until they were kicked out over their Russian S-400 missile purchase.

The F-35 was designed as an export fighter, and sooner or later Russia and China will both get specifications, samples of RAM coatings, and other classified information. it's inevitable.

It sure ain’t my uncles Navy. They just pushed corsairs off the side of the carrier, from what he told me.

No fuss. No muss. Davy Jones took care of the rest of it.

While we’re dithering on the surface, the Chinese just launch a few Glomar Explorers with a track chassis from the shore that haul it back up on the mainland. And we can’t do squat.

They gotta pinpoint it first, and that will take sonar to accomplish. We'll hear all of that pinging, so they're not just going to sneak up with an underwater bulldozer and drag it off. We'll know something's up, and in a big way.

Oh, you mean the 35% of International students exempt from the vaccine mandates that have been here in the US for years.

Chinese would only want to compare it with the classified specifications they stole using Chinese graduate students and tech employees feeding secrets from the United States.

Ugh. Just read the last entry about the Glomar Explorer in Wikipedia:

Transocean announced in April 2015 that the ship would be scrapped.[20] The ship arrived at the ship breakers at Zhoushan, China, on June 5, 2015.[21]

14 tons (yeah, in water probably more like 10 tons) no thrust it probably tumbled down like a wet leaf from a tree.

Probably hit bottom at 50 mph.

We should let them have it so they can copy it.

From the 'Dilbert' comic strip:

Pointy-haired boss: "Alice, youv'e got to lock up these proprietary documents you have in your cubicle. If our competitors see our plans, it could be very dangerous."

Alice: "For us or for them?"

The competitors (at their office): "Ooh! Look! They're planning to 'utilize synergy'. We're in trouble now!"
"Ha ha ha"
"Stop! You're killing me!!"
