The cause is still unclear: When a US fighter jet tries to land on an aircraft carrier in the South China Sea, an accident occurs. The jet crashes, the pilot is able to save himself by ejecting. Several sailors are injured on deck.
At least seven sailors were injured when an F-35 fighter jet crashed while attempting to land on a US aircraft carrier in the South China Sea. Three were taken to the hospital in Manila, Philippines, after the "accident," the US Navy said. Her condition was therefore stable.
The other four injured received medical treatment on board the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson. Three of them have since been released. According to the report, the pilot of the F-35C jet was able to save himself by ejecting and was recovered by a military helicopter. He is said to be in stable condition.
A spokesman for the 7th Naval Fleet in Japan called the impact on the flight deck "superficial". The warship and its air squadron would have resumed normal operations. The cause of the accident is still being determined.
The crash is the first for an F-35C, a variant of the US Navy's single-engine stealth fighter designed for use on aircraft carriers. Versions of the F-35 are also flown by US allies and partners including Japan, South Korea, Britain, Australia, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands and Israel.
Her condition was therefore stable?...................
Ain’t Affirmative Action wonderful.
I’m not a pilot or Navy vet, but all reports stories and photos/films of planes landing on a carrier, have been consistent — Each landing is a “controlled crash” even in good weather and the plane having no mechanical problems.
I remember the ‘her’ that crashed and died years ago on a carrier. I think she was the first black female to attempt a anding on a carrier.
The ship is a she! Silly Badger!
Doing it like Ivan.
If this was a F35 I think they have VTOL capabilities so wondering what exactly happened.
Such accidents were once thoroughly investigated by the Navy and individuals were held accountable. Now if such investigations are performed equity and gender are given high consideration ahead of accountability. The collisions at sea are a case on point.
The context doesn’t make any sense...............
Pingaroo my darling tailhooker. :)
And in 30 years she’ll be senator of Arizona… 😂
Pilot knew the plane was going South so it can be seen he is opening the cockpit to head North.
Hultgreen Jr ?
“..so wondering what exactly happened...”
It’s probably pretty difficult to maneuver the rudder controls when wearing high heels. /s
Pretty sure that is not an American carrier.
That’s a video from last year of a British pilot punching out. Our carriers do not have the amusement park launch ramp.
No, this one didn't eject into the ocean.
