Amid growing talk of Tom Brady retiring, it’s important to look back on what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback said about his marriage with Gisele Bundchen.
Back in the fall, Brady admitted that retirement was a “very difficult issue” in his marriage to the supermodel.
Naturally, Gisele would prefer for Brady to retire so he could spend more time with friends and family members.
“But that’s an issue, and it’s a very difficult issue to reconcile without just saying, ‘Hey, it’s time to retire.’ And I think there’s, you know, we’re coming to the end here too, so I don’t want to miss any of the kids’ stuff,” Brady told his co-hosts, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.
“I think my wife has, you know, held down the house for a long time now, and I think there’s things that she wants to accomplish. You know, she hasn’t worked as much in the last 10, 12 years just raising our family and kind of committing to being in a life in Boston and then moving to Florida.”
Brady, 44, is reportedly non-committal on the 2022 season and beyond.

I know. I personally do not care about the personal lives of athletes and celebs.
Starr definitely tried to hang on too long, he was ok those first few seasons after Lombardi left, but could barely grip the ball by the time he retired.
I grew up with Starr, even watched the Ice Bowl with my dad and uncles. But, I never realized how great he was until I watched a comparison between him and Farve. I loved watching Farve play, he was exciting to watch. But Starr was head and shoulders above Farve.
What a lot don’t realized is that Poland has never been beaten one-on-one, they were always defeated by two or more powers ganging up on it.
They were in the process of beginning to organize real resistance to the Nazis, to at least buy some time for Britain and France to land there, before the Soviets invaded on September 17 and quashed those hopes.
>>Enjoy your family while you still can.....<<
Second that. According to his wikipedia entry
they have two children: a son named Benjamin Rein born in December 2009, and a daughter named Vivian Lake born in December 2012.
So the kids are 9 and 12. They are right at the age where they would still like to hang out with mom and dad, before they turn teenager and develop other interests.
This window of time, once spent, will never be recovered.
Plus every season, he risks a crippling injury.
He has kids and a beautiful wife, he’s got lots of money, enjoy all that will you can.
(I’m going to be taking my own advice and retiring this year. I have enough money to retire, and want to do so while still healthy and fit enough to enjoy retirement and hanging with the grandkids)
My 10 & 12 year old grandsons love Tom Brady. They wear his shirts & cheer him on. They were sad yesterday.
Which is why I think Brady should retire on top. Starr is a good lesson on what happens if you do not retire on top.
‘Time for Brady to exit the stage.’
Tom, Big Ben, and Rodgers all at the same time...twenty year cycle hits again...
To think George Blanda was still playing QB back then in his 40s.
Speaking of, I was thinking about the Six Degrees of Separation of Tom Brady, and what his link to Blanda was, and lo and behold I found it:
Tom Brady is only 5 degrees of separation from pre-1950 NFL
Brady played on 2000 Patriots w/ Bruce Armstrong
Who played on 1987 Patriots w/ Julius Adams
Who played on 1982 Patriots w/ Morris Bradshaw
Who played on 1975 Raiders w/ George Blanda
Who played on 1949 Bears
‘Aaron never hit 50. Bonds hit over 50 once. ARod hit over 50 twice as did Mays. Maris hit over 40 once.’
Sosa and McGwire each had 4 50 plus seasons, including two 60 homer years for each, and a third for Sosa...
‘...Loses his hair, gets a bit chubby and starts to look more like Terry Bradshaw every day?’
not to worry; Terry always looked like, well, Terry...
Nicely played
‘But Starr was head and shoulders above Farve.’
eh, I would disagree; but, yeah, Starr was great guy who wasn’t so insecure he needed to honk his own horn...I remember he said Favre could throw a deeper ball on his knees than he could, and I thought, ‘wow, an honest guy...’
But look at the talent Starr had surrounding him in Green Bay.
‘But look at the talent Starr had surrounding him in Green Bay’
indeed; but their problem was they all grew old at the same time, just like the Yankees of the mid sixties (much to my joy)...
Brady is very, very lucky to have his health given how long he has played. If he comes back with a depleted Tampa team he could get beat up. Any NFL player is one big hit away from a devastating injury. Why take the chance?
And their coach left for The Redskins, well for one season, and that was enough to position the Redskins, under George Allen to make SB VII.
Yeah to have that time again when they were that age....
Agree.
