Pfizer chief executive Albert Bourla said on Saturday (Jan 23) that an annual Covid-19 vaccine would be preferable to more frequent booster shots in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
Pfizer/BioNtech's Covid-19 vaccine has shown to be effective against severe disease and death caused by the heavily-mutated Omicron variant but less effective in preventing transmission.
With cases soaring, some countries have expanded Covid-19 vaccine booster programmes or shortened the gap between shots as governments scramble to shore up protection.
In an interview with Israel's N12 News, Dr Bourla was asked whether he sees booster shots being administered every four to five months on a regular basis.
"This will not be a good scenario. What I'm hoping (is) that we will have a vaccine that you will have to do once a year," Dr Bourla said.
"Once a year - it is easier to convince people to do it. It is easier for people to remember.
"So from a public health perspective, it is an ideal situation. We are looking to see if we can create a vaccine that covers Omicron and doesn't forget the other variants and that could be a solution," Dr Bourla said.
Dr Bourla has said Pfizer could be ready to file for approval for a redesigned vaccine to fight Omicron, and mass produce it, as soon as March.

The funniest thing about the Babylon Bee is that the MSM has actually fact checked some of their stories.
So if the shot is to be administered annually instead of semiannually or quarterly, the “vaccine” would have to be two to four times more powerful. That would seem to be a considerable shock to our immune systems. It puts me in mind of forced blooming of plants which delivers flowers at a particular time but ruins the plant in the long run. We may avoid getting Covid but might be more likely to get everything else. Wait until the vaccinated start developing Kaposi’s Sarcoma.

Annual is not frequent? Just exactly how many boosters every year does the average American get? Except for Covid it’s been a long time since I got a shot of anything.
I don’t recall anyone voting for the Pfizer CEO as President of the USA. He seems to think he gets to dictate medical procedures for us.
Funny. I envision a slightly different future in which people like Bourla and Fauci spend the rest of their natural lives in prison and get an annual flogging rather than a booster.
