Steve Hilton, on his show "The Next Revolution w/ Steve Hilton" on Fox News, displayed on the screen stats from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics showing that the labor participation rate under Biden right now is as bad as it was under Jimmy Carter in 1977.
He followed that up by saying we as a nation have the worst inflation in 40 years along with having the worst labor participation rate in 45 years.
What say you?
Biden pushed for a massive gov’t agenda while only having a 50/50 Congress.
He stoked racial animus and hatred in Georgia even though voter laws are stricter in Delaware and New York than they are in Georgia and Texas.
He is incompetent on foreign policy as shown with Afghanistan in abandoning Americans, troops, and equipment..
He has failed to deal with out-of-control crime and protecting the border (while he wants to secure Ukraine’s border).
More have died with Covid under him than under Trump, and he walked away from dealing with this saying there is no federal solution to Covid after saying he would deal decisively with Covid.
I say I’ve seen this movie before.
It was no fun the first time around. And 17% interest rates under Volcker killed the homeownership dreams of millions.
Stagflation sucked.
Hated the 70s. Absolutely hated them and this show sucked. The best thing from that horrendous decade was: music and muscle cars. On a personal note, my son was born in 79 so that was a good year.
I was 20 years old in 1977. I was slim and dating pretty girls. My future was ahead of me and I was having a great time. Now my knees hurt, my incomeโs fallen way past inflation, no one wants to hire an old white male, and I just got a positive COVID test.
Iโd go back in a heartbeat.
I was a job-hopper in the 1980’s and 90’s. The Big Three (GM, Ford and Chrysler) relied on “Jobbies” and “Toolies” working in the job shops where there was probably the most draftsmen working so much OT ever. This was a very common thing, and it was Modern Engineering, based in Warren, MI, where I was hired and rehired at least five times during that 20-year period. One thing about that I remember well is that they offered same-day (from date-of-hire) full coverage Blue Cross-Blue Shield health, dental and vision plus life insurance and an average of six paid holidays, 40 hrs of paid vacation time after one year, etc., etc., etc...You could find a shop that was doing work in areas of automotive manufacturing that would really do a lot to enhance you’re resume’, on-the-job CAD training and more. Job-hopping today doesn’t seem to resemble my experience with it at all.
I am sorry to hear your life is hard.
Wages are flat compared to inflation but by all mean lets let in 1,000,000 LEGAL immigrants evrey year. /sarcasm
It ainโt hard itโs just not as much fun!
In 1977 there was a real recession and people were out of work and further more the country wasn’t flooded with illegals aliens.
Today an entire generation has eschewed work in favor of free hand outs and the country is being over run with illegal aliens.
I hear you. In ‘77 I was 21 , had a VW bus, hair down to where ever, there were girlfriends a plenty and life was good.
Now it’s a pacemaker, a stent, and bad knees.
I wouldn’t want to go back to those days necessarily but they had their good moments.
Of the three, only bad knees so far!
There you go!
If he really said that he doesn't know what he's talking about. The lowest rate we've had since 1972 was in April of 2020.
Since then we've had a steep rise in the participation rate as we came out of the pandemic.
If you take our national debt and divide it by the quantity of our population times the labor participation rate, it’s sickening and scary.
