Does coffee help protect against endometrial cancer? (Up to 29% less risk for the most coffee used)

Higher coffee consumption is linked with a lower risk of endometrial cancer, a type of cancer that begins in the lining of uterus, according to an analysis of relevant studies published to date. Also, caffeinated coffee may provide better protection than decaffeinated coffee.

The analysis, which appears in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research, included 24 studies on coffee intake with 9,833 new cases of endometrial cancer occurring in 699,234 individuals.

People in the highest category of coffee intake had a 29% lower relative risk of developing endometrial cancer than those in the lowest category.

The authors of the analysis highlight several mechanisms that have been associated with the potential anti-cancer effects of coffee. "Further studies with large sample size are needed… to obtain more information regarding the benefits of coffee drinking in relation to the risk of endometrial cancer," they wrote.

If I changed my professed gender, would drinking more coffee help?

I never habitually drank coffee until I was well into my 30s; but I remember when I was younger, my Grandma would always have a cup of coffee right before bed. I never understood how she could do that.

About a month ago, I was having trouble sleeping through the night - something that has never happened to me, and which I chalked up to some recent big life changes.

But one sleepless night, I got the idea to drink a cup of coffee in the wee hours, and then went back to bed. Slept like a baby many hours longer!

Since then I’ve done it a few more times, and it always seems to strangely relax me. I’m not sure exactly what’s operating; I have a lot of allergy/sinus issues, and I know that caffeine can help with that - so maybe that’s it. Or maybe it’s just some reverse mechanism that comes with getting old.

Now I’ve discovered Espresso...

This cancer should run screaming from my body because I have read this. Coffee is one of the food groups!

I don’t know if it’s a ‘food group’, but it’s my preferred starter fluid in the morning, and it gets me going pretty well. The surprise is that it also helps me to sleep sometimes.

Best Wishes.
