On your iOS device, do this:
Open Settings.
Tap Privacy.
Scroll all the way down and tap Apple Advertising.
To disable personalized ads, toggle the switch next to Personalized Ads to the left.
You can also tap on the View Ad Targeting Information to see what information Apple has on you.
Recently, Google added more options for Android users, too. Just follow these steps to opt out:
Tap Settings.
Navigate to Google.
Tap the Ads option and toggle the switch for Opt out of Ads Personalization. When Google implements the change, advertisers will see a string of zeros instead of your Advertising ID.

FYI - My android didn’t have a toggle button, but an option to Delete Advertising ID. So I did.

it was already switched off on the Iphone 13 that I just got last week when I went through these steps. Perhaps that’s the default setting?
Despite that, when I start talking about mattresses, I get a lot of mattress ads. Talk about Trump, and every t-shirt and mug involving him shows up in ads on my phone.

Thank you. It is weird that someone who be interested in the research habits of another person. It is ethical to mind one’s own business.
There is also a setting to “Reset Advertising ID, at the top, which “will replace your advertising ID with a new random number. I don’t know if it needs to be done, but it sounded good to me.
