A manager at a Cracker Barrel near Houston was fatally shot early Saturday as she came to the aid of a co-worker who was being robbed while she entered the location, reports said.
Robin Baucom, 59, a grandmother, had worked in the restaurant for more than three decades.
The scene unfolded quickly. A car pulled while another employee was entering the store before business hours, and someone jumped out of it and tried to take the employee’s purse, the Star-Telegram reported.

That’s when the thugs were moved from New Orleans to Houston.
Although this one might not have been born then yet.
But mother would have been.
Baucom, who was inside, sprung into action and tried to open the front door, so the co-worker could enter. The suspect apparently followed the first employee inside, and when Baucom attempted to push the suspect away, she was shot in the chest, the paper, citing KTRK, reported. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where she died, authorities said.
I’m sure there’s no need to look.

How sad to lose a productive, hard working member of society like this.
There’s an epidemic in this country of wanton and senseless violence that’s getting progressively worse. That’s an epidemic that there’s a cure for if we had the will to do it.
FR has long had this ugly side, although there’s nothing particularly FR about it. The Internet and its anonymity just bring out the bad in people. I don’t like it either — if you wouldn’t say it loud in front of your mother, in general you shouldn’t say it.

Local news stations did not give any description of the killer although they want the public’s help in finding him. I would think the other employee had a look at him at least enough to give a description. They show a very bad security camera image but that is all.

On the same night in another part of town (Houston), two black shoplifters in a clothing store shot and killed the store manager that tried to stop them.
