A Pennsylvania dentist has been charged with murdering his wife during a 2016 African hunting safari as part of an insurance scam and to get out of his marriage to be with his long-term mistress.
Dr. Lawrence Rudolph, 67, was charged in Colorado on charges of foreign murder and wire fraud, for allegedly shooting dead his wife Bianca during a trip to Zambia.
In the criminal complaint filed against him that was unsealed last week, an FBI agent describes how he had been having an affair for years beforehand, and had seven life insurance policies against his wife which were adjusted in the months before her death.
The pair were avid hunters and had flown to Zambia in October 2016 so that Bianca could kill a leopard. At around 5am on October 11, gamekeepers and scouts heard a gunshot coming from their cabin.
When they got there, they found Bianca lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Her husband claimed he was in the bathroom at the time and that she had accidentally shot with a Browning 12 gauge shot gun herself while packing up her gun for a day's hunting.
Zambian Police believed him, ruling the death an accident and allowing him to travel back to America, where the FBI agent says he quickly resumed his relations with an unnamed 'girlfriend', who he'd been having an affair with for years.
The FBI was notified of the case in 2016 after one of Bianca's friends called them to say she was suspicious about Bianca's death.
Bianca and Lawrence, or Larry, had been married since 1982 and while they enjoyed hunting together, the friend said he was prone to affairs.

I always felt people that wanted to be dentist’s weren’t quite right in the head...
Maybe the story was mistaken, and she wanted to kill a cougar, mistress.
It’s cheaper to keep her.
Probably hunting some birds, too.
Because that person is a d*ck.
Killing someone in Zambia is against the law in Colorado?
I understand trapping for skins and hunting and fishing for food, but trophy hunting is disgusting.

“charged in Colorado on charges of foreign murder”.
John Henry “Doc” Holliday, of O.K. Corral fame, was a dentist, having learned his profession at the school of dental surgery that is today part of the University of Pennsylvania.
I think they can’t be just making a case on that evidence alone. The Feds don’t usually charge someone unless they think it’s solid, that’s why they have some insane conviction rate like 97%.
My guess is that the unnamed mistress has perhaps flipped under federal questioning and is going to be a witness for the prosecution. They may not be able to prove she helped plan the murder, but since she married him and benefited from the insurance fraud, that was probably enough to threaten her with a stiff federal sentence if she didn’t point the finger at the husband.
“an FBI agent describes how he had been having an affair for years beforehand”
Well damn that agent.
“I always felt people that wanted to be dentist’s weren’t quite right in the head...”
What do you think about those who actually made it to become practicing dentists?
Dentists are second tier when compared to orthodontists. Both could have ended up making their living reading tarot cards or the crystal ball. It’s a fine line. It takes more than training to look into a patient’s mouth and see their bank account.
Now for those people who have problems taking care of their teeth .... dentists are providing a great service. Loooking into people’s mouths all day long .....yuck.
Usually shotguns are used when the hunter screws up and the guide has to go into the thick brush after a wounded leopard. Not a good thing. Peter Capstick wrote several very entertaining accounts of doing this.

So was Bill Clinton, and there are lot more dead bodies associated with him and his wife.
To clarify, he’s charged in a federal court that just happens to be located in Colorado. “Foreign murder” is a federal statute that only comes into play if one American kills another American in a foreign country, so there is no state jurisdiction.
It was probably with some guy since it’s fbi ;)
I have read that out of all doctors, dentists have the highest rate of alcoholism.
