“We’re gonna have windmills, you’re gonna see that have 100-yard wingspans, each, each propeller on that on that windmill, 100 yards long. So there’s so much that’s going to be able to be done.”

The stresses caused by these huge blades results bearing and seal failures relatively often. The replacement of the bearings and seals is difficult and results in considerable down time and cost. Then there are the hydraulic fluid leaks and dead birds. Think how bad these monsters will perform offshore in the salt air.

Part of windmill in photo....

Probably....
Every two or three weeks each windmill goes bad and is shut down and the manufacturer says “It’s in the warranty: you must bring the faulty part in to our service point.”

True.

Windmill not turning but the bats in his belfry are having a wonderful flight party up there.

Biden: “I hear them, do you hear them, Jill?”

I believe the Chinese will make a break through in Fusion Reactors and have the world begging them to share the technology and they won’t. It will blow away all other forms of electrical energy production.

“40 years ago, I expected most of our electricity to come from orbiting power plants by now.”

How does the energy get down?

Amazing photograph. And another key funding question is: how much does it cost to take the electricity from this monstrosity and backhaul the power to the grid.

Looking at it, I question the structure integrity of it. The bolts are might small compared to its lengthy. And what's inside the blades to keep it from flopping around in the wind.

Looks like a Hindenberg kind of contraption.

How does the energy get down?

Microwave beams with a simple feedback circuit to cut the power if it drifts off target.

Voltage and frequency converter stations on the ground.

All of the technology has been on the shelf for over 50 years.

Whoever builds this first will control the earth's energy, and the earth.

As a side effect, makes a great weapon.

If any country bothers you, relocate it over them and incinerate them.

Let the Dutch design our windmills.

They have centuries worth of experience.

“Microwave beams with a simple feedback circuit to cut the power if it drifts off target.”

That’s what I thought.

But how many are needed and how is air traffic affected?

A 100 meter long blade spinning at 10 rpm would have the tips moving at over 250 mph.

I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near if it came apart.

I'm sure Biden will find a way to ensure exclusive blade production contracts with China. Count on it.
