Skynet wouldn’t need to wreck the planet … just manipulate people through their phones till humans just kinda died out.
To me the world started going mad around 9/11/2001, and it’s only gotten worse.
I’m an Uber driver in Kentucky. None of the things you said about the company management make sense to me. All I know is that they are based in San Francisco, where any leftist idea goes. To start with, I still have to enforce all the COVID restrictions on masks and seating, though they don’t seem very relevant to myself or my passengers.
If you ordered it from Uber Eats, why would you then go to the deli?
All I can say in reply to your post is I do my best to vote with my feet and with my wallet. I have never used Uber Eats and never will.
I wouldn’t hang it on Uber that the deli didn’t update their Uber “store”. The whole thing is store driven, the stores tell Uber their hours, and if things fluctuate for holidays or whatever they’re supposed to set that. Uber’s not calling all the 10s of thousands of restaurants on their service every day to make sure nothing random has happened causing them to be closed when Uber thinks they’re open.
As for terms of service, well if you’re in tech you know exactly how much those things mean.
Same nonsense is happening at the company I work for.
Glad you are clearly aware the world has gone stark raving mad and insanity rules.
That means Jesus is coming back soon!
Maranatha!
If the worst thing that happens to you in 2022 is Uber’s leadership and not realizing a restaurant is closed I’d say it’s looking pretty good.
It’s sad when a private business starts running itself like a federal agency.
I would have called the deli to see if they were open. The sandwich would be fresher if you ordered it when you actually got there. And there would be fewer middle men to increase the price and/or mess up the instructions.
First I read “Atlas Shrugged”, then I read “The Ominous Parallels: the End of Freedom in America”. Since the 80’s, it was clear where we were heading. Trump was an unexpected punch back against the totalitarians. But they took care of him.
What amazes me is that we grownups allow this circus to continue, and we actually support these companies with our dollars and our time.
***Uber, Facebook, Twitter, etc. all were platforms that performed a service reasonably well and when they became prominent in their industries, THAT was when they chose to get woke and go broke spending your money.
We let it go on far too long.
I’m not sure yet if letting them say that men can decide they want to be girls was a ‘jump the shark’ moment or a Tipping Point.
If there is no backlash then they’ve probably won. I actually spent 20 minutes arguing with a liberal crazy woman about whether a biological Girl is still a girl.
Nothing worked. Does she still have uterus? Can she get pregnant? Does she have XX or XY chromosomes? All those arguments were met with “HE, not SHE”, No substantive response.
We are standing in line to get a Covid test because we saw people standing in line to get a Covid test
The diversity nonsense is simply to employ people from certain preferred groups with no private sector value so we can pretend assimilation is working and they have a viable middle class. In the past, these would all be gubmint hires; now gubmint has spread the responsibility for paying them (I won’t say “employing”) under threat of lawsuits.
Let me try to get this straight.
It’s New Year’s Day and you are tech savvy enough to navigate the Uber app, but not tech savvy enough to look up the deli to see if they have their hours posted or if they don’t have a website, give them a quick telephone call to see if they are open?
“My dog and I wanted a sandwich for lunch today, New Year’s Day. We ordered it on Uber Eats”. We ordered? : ), Your dog must be really smart. : ), Next time ask him to call the deli.
You ordered the sandwich on the Uber app, and I’m assuming you were charged a fee for that, but yet drove to the deli, in the rain no less to pick the sandwich up in person?
“I only have one leg, so they had to call an ambulance to physically remove me from the Uber car.” So how were you able to drive to the deli today?
I am assuming by your calling it a deli, this is not a chain restaurant. How is Uber supposed to know they are closed? Do you think Uber contacts every mom&pop shop individually to check on their hours on a holiday? Do you think every shop that contracts with Uber to place and or deliver orders are all hooked into some uber Uber mainframe that updates every few seconds?
You say you don’t have a physical credit card. How are you paying for the Uber?
You didn’t get hosed since Uber refunded your money, you were only mildly inconvenienced.
I’m sorry but nothing in your posts make any sense.
Yep.
Your dog told you that he wanted a sandwich? You sure it’s the world gone mad?
