At first glance, Knives Out doesn’t seem like a particularly political movie. “A Rian Johnson Whodunit,” the poster reads, with the letters scrawled in cartoonish font inside a magnifying glass. The trailer is stuffed with overdramatic jump cuts and hammy retorts from its famous actors—including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis and Toni Collette. The film’s Thanksgiving release date, Martha Stewart-assisted marketing campaigns and jovial press run all give the impression that Knives Out is a popcorn caper, a mindless piece of entertainment.
But while the film starts as a standard whodunit, it soon morphs into a personal drama centering not on a famous detective, but a Latina daughter of undocumented immigrants……..

In a a ulta rich Stephen King type author dies and leaves his estate, money, book rights and publishing company to his recently naturalized young, beautiful personal Latina RN. His family of native born Americans are all losers and variety of weirdos. It soon becomes apparent to the now dying patriarch (dying from an accidental over dose by his Latina RN—irony and symbolism I can’t believe the author missed) that the only important thing left to do in his life is protect his RN’s ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT kind, sweet, pious grandmother living at her home. I turned it off at that point.
It had a star studded cast with Meryl Streep, Don Johnson, Jamie Lee Curtis and others. They argued over immigration but only in leftist approved stereotypical terms. Example Illegals come here to work and improve their lives and if caught the children are kept in “awful cages”, opposing argument from the young “Nazi Alt-Right” was they all wanted to be anchor babies. I was shocked then realized it was written during the height of the anti Trump, Russian Collusion hysteria.
Gag alert if you watch this one 🤢.
Now just don’t turn the TV on again, and everything will be fine!
The Hollowoody sickos are at it again. Illegal aliens are now America’s heroes. The dumbass Americans are too busy playing with their cellphones, exercise machines and fancy “fit” watches to fight for their own country that is being invaded by foreigners from all over the world.
Movies have always been tools for propaganda. Poor sheep herder vs ruthless cattle barons? Confused soldiers in a meaningless war? Jack Ryan season two on Prime requires a barf bag as well.
And yes, it makes a heroine of the young girl from Wherever-zuela, but it's because of her innocence and good character in the real sense.
the movie is very conservative about men and women, wealth, and character--not to mention contemporary politics. It mercilessly skewers self-indulgent Leftists. The plot is weirdly realistic, and dang, it's funny.
I agree it’s brilliant as a tool of indoctrination, can’t understand why our side can’t produce stuff like this.
It only skewers leftist from a perspective of their personality not their politics (although I admit I turned it off probably 1/2 the way through).

And wasn't the heroine a daughter of an illegal, and not literally a fence-hopper herself? She's an ingenue, in dramatic terms. She's clueless and good-hearted, like someone who just doesn't get it. It's an anarchic movie--and certainly not Leftist.
Yup, it is left-wing fantasy propaganda - but if leftists were honest with themselves, in the sequel the good-hearted RN would be voting republican, lol.

I saw this movie in the theater and I guess I’m dense, because I completely missed the apparently screaming woke undertone of the movie.
It was great entertainment and has a great ending.
In case anyone’s interested, “Benoit Blanc” (played by Daniel Craig) may be starring in a ‘Knives Out’ sequel/prequel. Netflix has picked up the rights to 2 sequels.
Ditto on final season 7 of Prime's "Bosch" when the sub-plot pushing & defending a female homosexual cop's life choice as almost as primary as the main plot. It certainly soured a very good series.
Since the entire final season's episodes were released at same time, perhaps Amazon realized most viewers would find the homo angle too much if dragged out episode-by-episode.
Daniel Craig murdered James Bond. That’s enough for me to stay away.
