Man finds Apple Air Tag tracker on his Dodge Charger
I saw that. The app has a 1.7 rating, so I would not expect too much from it.
Spend a little money and have a hidden switch installed that you have to flip before it will start.
“I think the LE argument for the Chargers was the same as the argument for better firearms some 20 years before: we need at least as much as the bad guys have.”
Nope. Full size four door sedan. Not much choice in that category. Most are now going SUV.
The police spec car is only 370 hp, slightly more than a four cylinder Mustang.
Ford stopped building the Crown Vic in 2011 due to govt fleet fuel economy mandates. So the Dodge was the one remaining rwd sedan. Experience has shown that a unibody chassis is not robust for police usage and the suspension does not hold up well. Ford pushed a Taurus fwd unibody police offering that did not do well either.
So due to poor reliability/durability a lot of buys now (at least here in the midwest) are Tahoes and Explorers. Which the cops like because of the room inside, although there’s a penalty in purchase cost, fuel economy, and handling due to the higher center of gravity.
“And while I understand that the perp can show up with a high-end sports car that even the Dodge Charger can’t outpace, “
You don’t need an exotic. A mustang GT blows the doors off the police spec Charger.

It is not designed for Airtag users. It allows an android DETECT the unknow device near you.
But even those are governed; a CV would top out higher than a Tahoe or Explorer.
(They had more enthusiasm for the Charger V6 than they did for the CV.)
Sure you can. It's illegal and will get you 10 years. But you can do it.
“(They had more enthusiasm for the Charger V6 than they did for the CV.)”
More modern
Lighter
Nimbler
More hp.
But what is the point?
The Explorer has 150 hp more than the CV and is faster than the V-8 Charger.
Let me know how many years of legal hell you’re willing to go through over a car.
I tracked one of my teens using the I-Pass Transponder data to determine they were not exactly where they said they were one Friday night ;( ;)
“Some States allow it.”
One state does but there are many conditions that apply before you can legally shoot the dude. It takes a little study to wade through all their legalize.
But are other peoples iPhones helping the thief out? By just passing the target as they drive down the street?
Actually, it's not. The Explorer is governed; the Charger will reach 160 MPH.
“Actually, it’s not. The Explorer is governed; the Charger will reach 160 MPH.”
Michigan state ran real world tests. The Explorer was faster 0-60, 0-100 AND top speed.
Eleven vehicles tested. Only the Mach-E pilot could beat it.
“Here’s a site with some specs on the Ford Explorer.”
2016. TOTALLY outdated!
