Next GOP Majority Should End DC Home Rule

If Republicans win the House back in 2022, they should end the Home Rule charade. The only way is for Congress to strip the Mayor and City Council of their abused authority.

Stripping the city council and Mayor Bowser’s authority is well within congressional rights. The Constitution plainly states the power to govern D.C is Congress’s, and the District’s charter makes plain that Home Rule is a privilege.

We’ve got 2 election cycles coming up. Moving congressional sessions throughout the US will start retirement announcements. The technology is there. Boarded up cities can be reinvigorated with 2 year ‘conventions’. Not much nite-life. That’s good. Make them want to go home. Just think how many of them will step up and volunteer to host-just like the Super Bowl. The NFL Draft caught on and is using it successfully.

The District of Columbia should never have been given home rule. It is a direct violation of the non-delegation doctrine.

Congress was given the authority to govern the District of Columbia. They were not given the authority to transfer their power to other entities.

It was done in 1976. Democrats outnumbered Republicans 2-1. As far as I know, no one ever challenged it in court, probably because of the race card.

Much of what the Democrats have built their empire on is blatantly unconstitutional, built on the race card and white guilt.

Affirmative action blatantly violates equal protection under the law. All based on white guilt.

So, why do elected officials ignore the Constitution, and enact obviously unconstitutional laws?

Because the Media is overwhelmingly Progressive, dismisses the Constitution, and considers it an impediment to be overcome.

1960-2016, the Media decided what narrative was important, what issues were important, who is suitable for office or to win a primary.

The framers never envisioned a ideologically unified media that hated the Constitution and yearns for domination of the world by an elite ruling class.

Certain democrats will pre-emptively start screaming “racism!!” and the worthless cowards in the GOP will fold like a deck of cards in an F5 tornado.

Why bother? Just point to DC as another liberal shxt hole just like every major city. Liberals are incapable of running anything unless running it into the ground. They’re worse than cancer.

I was there. It was a decision made entirely for black dc residents. Anyone who lived around there knew what was going on. It was strictly racial. Nothing else.

No, the next GOP Majority should revert most of DC back to Maryland, keeping only the core governmental buildings and monuments part of Federal District of Columbia.

That would short-circuit all this talk about making DC a state by taking away the residential population from DC.

I have always thought it very odd that a citizenry such as the District of Columbia’s residents would rather have a representative over demanding no taxation without representation.

DC a no tax zone? Just imagine.

When DC was first created there was supposed to be no residences within the federal district. That went by the wayside early on, but it should have been enforced.

They should also propose a repeal of the 23rd Amendment to the Constitution.

This amendment gives democrats 3 electoral votes every Presidential Election(DC has voted democrat in every presidential election since 1964). Washington DC getting the same amount of electoral votes as Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, & Vermont is just wrong.

The people that vote in DC are one party communist types. No matter their education or income level, they’re democrats “through and through.”

The seat of our Federal Government needs to be moved to a central position in the Midwest(somewhere in Nebraska would be my 1st choice).
It would also help equalize the travel time for Senators and Representatives from all regions.

I say moving it around would be better-don’t get too comfortable. Moving entire departments=a wave of retirements in federal workers, helping the downsizing and elimination elements.

Of course Biden will veto. Take 2 election cycles. Groundswell starting next spring/summer-primary season. CRT in schools and mandates are fastballs right over the middle.

I agree. They violated the very purpose of having that Federal District unhampered by city, state and local party politics.

Give most of DC back to Maryland and keep a small area comprising the Federal buildings as DC.

In Section 8 of the Constitution, describing the powers of Congress:

“To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;”

I believe Congress’ authority in this is arguably not subject to veto.
