The first Taiga electric snowmobiles have gone into production, customer deliveries expected to follow in early 2022Taiga Motors VIEW 6 IMAGES

Back in 2018, Quebec's Taiga Motors announced an all-electric snowmobile called the TS2 that could get up to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. The company tweaked the design the following year, and expanded the model range to three. Now the first consumer-ready vehicles have rolled off the production line.

"Today represents the shared dream and vision of our entire organization coming to life as the first snowmobiles come off the production line. I am proud of the demonstrated ability and perseverance from employees who together have overcome challenges as we navigate unprecedented supply chain volatility," said Taiga CEO Sam Bruneau. "With the sleds soon ready for the snow, we are excited by the idea of our customers being able to ride on these cutting-edge machines that embody winter exploration without compromise."

I can carry a gas can on a sled. Can you carry a power plant on one?
Just asking.

While it is often hard to differentiate, I see only one true female amongst the 24 males in this sexist operation.
Disgusting it is.
uh huh, too funny.

Someone can bring a gas can to you. Can the same be said for an electric charger?

And you only have cross-country skiing, because no hills.

Charge them with battery operated generators?

The very picture of where a snowmobile is meant to overcome harsh conditions, isolation and scarcity of available support measures does not jive with the whole concept of battery operated, period. Sorry, this is a well-off person’s toy for winter. Not something for the outbacks of Canada in winter or elsewhere for that matter.

I’m guessing it’s the result of battery life cycle replacement cost....

Actually, you think you are making people look dumb, but here is some questions (and no, I did NOT read the article, sounds like a stupid idea on the surface). But feel free to answer my questions if they are covered in the article.

(1) Is the battery pack water cooled (or mixture of coolant)?
(2) Does its range depend upon “heating up” during operation?
(3) If the coolant system fails, will the batteries lose range?
(4) How much do snap in battery packs weigh?
(5) Does it support snap in battery packs?
(6) How much distance is consumed by carrying the weight of the snap in battery packs?

(gasoline cans carry their own weight -— meaning they go a long distance for the weight they add to the outfit, do the battery packs?)

Extreme cold is a place where battery stored electricity still isn’t very efficient. The chemistry causes the packs to weigh more for the lost storage capability of the cold. So yes, you may be right, it may be designed in, but this also means charging is even less efficient. You still have to *charge* the extra capacity, whether or not you can recover it.

To me the question of outfitting a remote location with that needed to sustain reliable transportation to and from said location wouldn’t be met with an electric snowmobile. It is far easier to pull a sled with gas than one filled with batteries that have to start out charged and stay charged.

I don’t care if someone CHOOSES to drive EVs.
eATVs?
You’re not saving the planet by owning one.. knuckleheads.
But again that’s your CHOICE.
like getting a vax should be your CHOICE.

Yes, it should be your CHOICE.

But they want to limit your ‘choice’ so that there really is NO CHOICE at all. California has just banned all small ICE engines, like lawn mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, snow blowers, etc. That will quickly spread through all the other states and the EPA...................
