Deputy State Fire Marshals arrested a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania man early Christmas Eve after setting multiple Christmas wreaths on fire at a local Hagerstown cemetery.
Peter J. Custer, 43, is charged with Second Degree Malicious Burning, Malicious Destruction of Property Under $1,000, and Trespassing on Private Property. Witnesses called 911 just after 1:00 a.m., after driving by Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown and saw Custer standing by a fire.
Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Office of the State Fire Marshal responded and concluded that Custer took plastic wreaths from three or more burial plots, placed them on an access road, and intentionally set the wreaths on fire. Investigators could not determine the exact plot where each wreath had been taken. During his arrest, Custer referenced that he was trying to save the earth and that plastic wreaths were non-biodegradable.

So naturally, burning plastic to release toxic fumes is the best approach to save the planet.
A man named Custer wants to save the earth by defacing burial places. Well.......okay.......

What a doofus.
Plastic wreathes are recyclable—can be stored and used for many years.
This guy sounds like a real prize winner./sarc

We’re still here so he succeeded in saving the Earth. 🤗
I was worried that it was some of the Wreaths Across America ones but they’re all real.
We have lots more of these dopes here in PA but he’s a special kind of stupid!
Why do people think they can destroy other peoples property? Destroy your own stuff and do not touch other people’s stuff.
Custer? Must have been his last stand at the Little Wreath.
Is there a way to sue someone for a hate crime?
Well, OT1H Seems he only managed a few. I was thinking a whole cemetery of the Wreaths across America or something.
But yes, it’s against the law to remove things from others’ graves in MD.
Strange this guy came all the way from Harrisburg. He crossed state lines!
I think that was the point. If you’re going to commit an act like that, do it in another zip code. In this twinkie’s case, he just happened to have been seen by a witness in the process, or he may have gotten away with it.
Indeed Sal pays attention to our cemeteries across the area. Perhaps she’ll have a report soon.
Sorry, I was making a reference to Kyle R. ;-)
Yeah, IIRC, Sal posted some video on her Facebook page she took when those Antifa goons tried to hold a march in Berkeley Springs a couple of years back. And she brought one of her Dobies with her. They gave her a wide berth. LOL!
Will he get out after a slap on the wrist to repeat this crime or was this Custer’s last stand?
Got people all over the country giving our #FloridaMan competition!
