AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A Texas board that had unanimously supported a posthumous pardon for George Floyd over a 2004 drug arrest in Houston backpedaled in an announcement Thursday, saying “procedural errors" were found in their recommendation months after leaving the decision to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.

In a letter dated Dec. 16 but not released publicly until now, the board told Abbott that it had identified “unexplained departures” from its process of issuing pardons and needed to reconsider more than a third of the 67 clemency recommendations it sent to Abbott this year, including the one for Floyd.

Are we still pretending that George wasn’t a career criminal that died of a drug overdose? Trump isn’t president anymore, there is no reason to create race riots at this point.

I’m getting the sense that certain people thought the revolution had started and are now reconsidering.

“Us? Oh, no, that was someone else. We found uhm...that we were misinformed...yeah, misinformed. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along.”

Heads should roll if this goes through. Floyd was a career criminal, not a saint.

Why a pardon? Carve his likeness on Mt Rushmore which is ready for its first crackhead.

Burn it all down if “Saint” George isn’t described as an angel.

Why the h@ll are they wasting their time with this crap? This tells me that they don’t have enough work to keep them busy. Maybe the board’s membership needs to be scaled back and its budget cut.

Whatever the case, a pardon isn’t helping or hurting him now.

I honestly couldn’t care less about this or Billy the Kid or any other posthumous pardon debate. The person’s still dead.

I think he CAN be described as an angel. An angel of light. It will still get him an eternity in the lake that burns. 🔥

Yeah, let’s pardon the dead criminal who died of a drug overdose. Makes perfect sense to the stupid and irrational segment of society.
