Kim Potter Convicted for Accidentally Shooting Daunte Wright While Michael Byrd Was Never Even Charged for Intentionally Killing Ashli Babbitt
Justice has not been served in the shooting death of Daunte Wright as former Brooklyn Center police officer Kim Potter has been found guilty of 1st Degree Manslaughter. According to RedState:
Former Brooklyn Center Police Department officer Kim Potter was found guilty of both first and second-degree manslaughter by a Minnesota jury Thursday in the death of Daunte Wright.
Wright was killed on April 11, 2021, during a traffic stop when Potter mistook her Taser for her service weapon. Potter immediately resigned, and manslaughter charges were filed against her.
As we noted in April 2021:
Under Minnesota law, Second Degree Manslaughter is defined as follows:
A person who causes the death of another by any of the following means is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both:

This is further indication that there is something terribly wrong with our system of justice. But we all knew that already.
What is terribly disappointing is the behavior of the jury. Twelve “peers”. Right. They are not my peers. I don’t even share a culture with these people.
Normal good old fashioned Americans appear to be a minority now. I will probably start acting that way. Purely self preservation. I don’t think we can ever go back to the way it was.
She unintentionally put down a rabid dog.
Will Daunte Wright get a posthumous pardon for his crimes, like they are trying to do for George Floyd?
The Nigerian cop that shot the white woman got off.
The Capitol cop that shot Babbet got off
Face it, white women, you have worked yourselves to the bottom of the totem pole. Congratulations.
Should be “woked “, not “worked”.
Ok
Just because one bad cop isn’t convicted while another is, is no reason to say the one convicted is somehow being unfairly singled out.
Theres a lot more to it than a simple reason of unfairness or bias.
Both deserved conviction. One has been, one hasn’t. That doesn’t mean because we cant get the one convicted, we cant convict any others.
The only comment I have is that my father (God rest his soul), got my brother and I together when we were about 7-8 years old and told us, if you ever get told by a policeman to stop running away or to pull over if you are driving a vehicle....do it as instructed...period!!! Ms. Kim Potter should go free immediately...period!!! This stupid kid thought he was gonna pull off the runaway act. IMHO...the dummy killed himself!!! Sad...but True!!!
Any different result in either case...and cities would again burn and be destroyed in the name of Justice.....That would be....Justice for Black Criminals.
The US has 4% of the world’s people but 70% of the world’s lawyers.
Something is out of whack there.
So how does she get convicted of BOTH 1st and 2nd degree manslaughter?
Why not add in attempted murder, and failure to brush her teeth?
Exactly. She should never have been charged.
Discipline inside the department should have been the end of it. Suspension, demotion, etc.
This is what happens sometimes when a person has to make split-second life and death decisions. It was not a crime, it was a mistake. A very serious mistake, but a mistake.
“It’s politics, man, politics.” - Francis, the movie Platoon (1986)
As far as Potter never being in a police uniform in the first place, it’s hard to say that. She was a 26-year veteran of the force.
Brooklyn Center, Minnnesota is a northern suburb of the Twin Cities. It’s not Brooklyn, NY, but it’s not Toad Hollow either. In 26 years she has to have had a tense moment or two.
She screwed up in the heat of the moment, but she doesn’t deserve prison.
Wow, killed him twice eh?
The black Moslem cop murdered innocent white Justine Damond and it took a while to get him arrested now they want to drop his conviction ...
Why are they prosecuting Col. Potter ?
She used her Glock instead of her taser on a guy who was resisting arrest.
Baldwin doesn’t show the least bit of remorse. In fact, he says he “didn’t pull the trigger, someone is responsible and it’s not me.”
“We are not a nation of laws.
We are a nation of lawyers.”
I cringe when I hear we are a nation of laws.
What kind of laws make a nation?
One sided laws?
Draconian laws?
Its stupid rhetoric from attorneys.
We are a nation of people, ruled by a “law system” comprised of lawyers. The Executive, Legislative, & Judicial branches of government are filled with these parasites. They produce nothing, they maintain nothing, they’re worthless but have a good PR department.
The law system of the United States is stupid, corrupt, expensive, and a joke. Which is why cameras are allowed sometime in courtrooms, but mostly we rely on sycophants of the law system for information
I want every court case video taped and saved, so future historians can reform a relic.
At this point in time, I’m a law system abolitionist. Either fix it or get rid of it, the status quo is not an option.
And I believe Michael Bird was overheard saying “I’m gonna get me one” before shooting Babbit.
Yeah I saw that, pretty hard to cross up Left and Right and confuse a huge yellow boxy Tazer with a Semiautomatic Pistol even though it was probably a “Grock” which are a bit boxy.
(I was referring to Colonel Potter from M*A*S*H)
There was a bad scene in Charlotte on IH-85 Southbound the other night/early morning. The Officer that was killed had just come back to work after Maternity Leave for Her 3rd Child a Girl.
