The dark exterior absorbs the heat in the cooler months to save on heating bills.
Oooh...wouldn’t that be cool?

Very nice, thanks.

We have no heat. This is Wisconsin. We are on the shores of a great lake. Most of us don’t even have air conditioning. It’s not heat. Its aesthetics. I am not sure why, but grey and white is. Its like living in an institution. Charcoal grey outside is showing up everywhere. I wonder if this house will sell. Of course some one can always paint it. But you would think another color choice would sell better.

Black Eaves Matter.
I just hope the homeowner can find his way home in the dark.
Better leave some lights on.
It would suck in Texas in the summer.
YES! LOL
When I bought my house (built in 1860, victorian) the ceilings had wallpaper. I believe it kept the cracked ceiling plaster from falling down! At one point the wallpaper was painted.
I can’t imagine trying to fix that. Maybe that is why they developed tin ceilings.
SOME people watch TOO many movies
You may be quite right about that!
The exterior doesn’t bother me. The house I grew up in was painted a similar color when I was a teen. The interior is not a place I would be comfortable in. It feels oppressive just looking at the pictures.
What surprises me is the seller is a realtor who bought it as an investment, not his personal home. I thought the usual advise from realtors was to go neutral on colors so buys could envision how they would live in it. I can see this appealing to only an extreme fringe of the population thus limiting sales opportunities.
There are many realtors, but fewer successful realtors. I guess one will find out which this one is.
A side problem is what the neighbors think. They may freeze out using this realtor for future sales. On the other hand, this realtor may only have his license to reduce fees on their flipping. Some sellers may be reluctant to sell their home to this realtor. Perhaps money talks.
