If 64-year-old New Jersey man Kevin LaRose wasn’t a fan of the Wyoming Cowboys men’s basketball team prior to last Saturday, he certainly is now.
A longtime sports bettor who has worked in construction for about 20 years, LaRose had already wrapped up the first 24 legs of a massive 25-leg parlay he placed at Caesars Sportsbook on December 11 as Wyoming’s game against the Utah Valley Wolverines was coming to a close.
In order for the parlay to hit and the $25 bet that LaRose placed on the Caesars app to turn into a $237,553.11 win, Wyoming needed to beat Utah Valley by more than eight points. To the delight of LaRose and his wife of 37 years, the Cowboys knocked off the Wolverines by 12.

Without any help too.
Hillary took no risk. In the old days the broker could mix commodity trades and allot them to clients as they wished.
I would believe someone hit a 25 team parlay before I believed she made $100k in Cattle Futures on first try.................
I wonder how much he’s lost on bets over the years and what his net gain/loss is?
Very impressive and a once in a lifetime hit I would assume. Parlays are tough.
I wish the article had given the odds on that 25 legger. His chances must have been miniscule.
I don’t think I could hit a 25 leg teaser which is a bet where you get to adjust the point spreads. Like a parlay you must win every match but it really kills the odds and the payoff.
Something I like to ask people that have had a bit of a windfall in lotto or other gambling games is how much money did they spend on lotto to get the windfall?
Unless the windfall was more than considerable... most don’t like to talk about that.
Winning 25 team parleys are certainly unusual.
I have a coworker that regularly picks 10 - 15 sure-fire small college teams to win. Drops a few bucks and wins most of the time.
While he wouldn’t make much on a per bet basis, adding them up to a large parley seems to work for him. Bought a used truck and a new shotgun for hunting season a few years ago with such proceeds.
“most don’t like to talk about that.”
Everyone I know that has gone to LV has won. I don’t know how they stay in business!

RB 100K in Cattle futures..... Well, The governor’s wife’s broker did that by ignoring something like 10 margin calls on her trade. Good to have people protecting you! (Lost his license as I recall. )
I can’t even hit a 4 team parlay!
Several years ago, I was in LV for a holiday college basketball tournament that included my alma mater. I had never placed a bet in a sports book so I just did bets that used the spread. I chose the 2 games in the tournament plus a game that my team’s conference rival was playing in another holiday tournament across the country. I won all 3 bets & then was told about how that could have meant real money as a parlay bet. I only had $10 on each game so I wasn’t any kind of high roller.
Congratulations to the 25-game parlay winner!
Did he commit Arkancide?......................
Well, given Biden’s inflation, how much would a 1979 $100K payoff be worth now?
The odds on most of the 25 outcomes must have been fairly small. Your returns are the result of multiplication of the odds, a “sure fire” winner’s odds are often around 1.2 or 1.3 to 1 and a reasonably likely outcome is priced closer to 1.5. Let’s examine 25 equal elements at 1.5 to 1. A parlay of five of those would give a return of close to 8 to 1. A parlay of 25 would therefore return 8 x 8 x 8 x 8 x 8 or 32768 to 1. On a $25 bet that would be a little over eight hundred thousand bucks. So I estimate the average odds on the 25 bets in the parlay closer to 1.4 to 1 which is the sort of odds you would expect for football teams with a ten point spread. His Wyoming to win by more than 8 might have been one of the more risky parts of the 25 legger.
If you somehow managed to parlay 25 even-Steven sorts of bets at maybe 1.8 to 1 (correct bets on 25 evenly matched outcomes) you could get a return of 18,000 to 1 which would have been 4.5 million on a $25 bet. With that many multiples, your returns climb very quickly for each level of risk, 1.8 to 1 is about what you might expect from any correct bet on teams with similar records.
