Japan hanged three death-row inmates on Tuesday, its first executions in two years, amid growing criticism by human rights groups of the country's use of the death penalty. One of the three, Yasutaka Fujishiro, was convicted of killing seven people and setting fire to their house in 2004, while the other two, Tomoaki Takanezawa and Mitsunori Onogawa, were convicted in the 2003 killings of two pinball parlor employees.
Executions are carried out in high secrecy in Japan, where prisoners are not informed of their fate until the morning they are hanged.
Two death-row inmates recently filed a lawsuit against the government saying the system causes psychological distress and seeking compensation over mental suffering from living in uncertainty until the last day of their lives.
Most executions are also carried out long after sentencing.

So those of us NOT on death row suffer psychological trauma not knowing the day we will die? :-) lol
Who?
Crazy fripper fingers
No beheading because that is the favorite of Islam and the terror of the French Revolution off-and-on into the French Republic. There is no need to put heads on pikes in the civilized Western World.
At least they have a few vowels! Have you seen the names of the Muslims in this country from Somalia, somethingstan and other 3rd world crap hole countries that have Class A CDL’s driving 80,000 pound semis all around the country, not able to speak or understand the language to talk to an officer, and have 1/1/yy birthdays because they dont know when they were born? Talk about scary
That’s interesting how lax it is now.
When CDLs first came out in the 90s, I had a very difficult time getting one because there was a guy in Massachusetts with the same name as me who had a bunch of DWI convictions.
IIRC it took three trips downtown to the Indiana state BMV headquarters.
"Our victims don't have to suffer like that," they continued. I don't think anyone bought it.
That is my philosophy on the death penalty, and I’m not Japanese.
I like this approach. “Good morning!”....”Well, uh, not for you...”
Agreed.
Why is everyone so worried about the feelings of the murderers? It’s not like the murderers cared about the feelings of their victims.
IMO, the executions should happen sooner rather than later.
“Geee they hanged them.”
They should use rubber bands from the office. Keep adding them one at a time until done.
Aren’t we all living in uncertainty until the last day of our lives.?
Especially during these Biden days.
They are weak — no diversity. /s
Tommy. The pinball wizard. The Who. I just gave you a threefer.
Japan is a police state. I'd rather we weren't.
It is something else for sure. I work in trucking insurance and we get the driver list of course to run MVR’s. You have “regions” where they all congregate- Michigan & Ohio are full of Somalian, Afgan, etc- lots of Mohameds, Ali’s, Mustaf....most can barely speak English. 99% have a 1/1 birthday because they say that they don’t “mark” birthdays where they come from so the State Dept gives them a 1/1 birthday. Greenwood is Indian with a whole lot of Singh’s. Bowling Green is Bosnian, Chicago is Ukraine and every name ends in VIC. I worry most about the Michigan Somolians.
better than turning them loose like we do to make room for the unvaccinated in prison.
“There is no need to put heads on pikes in the civilized Western World.”
I disagree.
