Former generals warn of coup, civil war in ’24, call for military purge over fear troops may ‘follow the Trumpian loser’

Three Trump-obsessed former generals penned a conspiracy theory laden op-ed for The Washington Post late last week warning of a potential coup and civil war in 2024 unless certain steps are taken now to nullify the threat.

These steps include purging the military of those accused of wrongthink, making it “perfectly clear to every member” of America’s armed forces “whom they answer to” and prosecuting any Republican who challenged the 2020 presidential election results.

Written by retired U.S. Army Gen. Paul D. Eaton, retired U.S. Army Major Gen. Antonio M. Taguba and retired U.S. Army Brigadier Gen. Steven M. Anderson, the piece centers around the thesis that after Democrats win the 2024 election, Republicans will install a shadow government.

The purge has already begun of all who love this country and fight for freedom. As soon as democrats got into power, they began the purge. The USA doesn’t have gulags. It has virtual gulags, which accomplish the same purpose.

The constant fixation with ‘coup’ says volumes about the left's state of mind right now. They think they've hit on a win/win proposition. If they succeed in stealing another election they can suppress protests; if they lose they will not concede.

Sure would be nice if instead of acquiescing the GOP offered them an argument.

The far more interesting and impactful question is why and how has the culture of our military deteriorated to this point?

Some years ago a speech by Atkinson at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis caused great concern on these threads when he warned us of the dangers of "critical thinking" spawned by the Frankfurt School insinuating itself into our culture and also our precious military culture. Little could we have known how prescient his warnings were.

We can decry a few renegade generals who violated our statute prohibiting even retired generals from criticizing a commander-in-chief but the threat is pervasive so we must find a way to change that culture or leave ourselves vulnerable to civil strife internally or liable to subjection by external powers.

Bush did not heed the advice given by his military commanders.[citation needed] Eaton appeared on Bill Maher’s HBO talk show and spoke out strongly against those who launched the Iraq War. In 2008 Eaton served as an advisor to Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Following Clinton’s concession of the Democratic primary, Eaton has made several appearances in support of Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. In July 2016, Eaton appeared in a political campaign ad critical of Donald Trump, using the catchphrase “Too Dangerous for America.”

That’s exactly what I got out of it. They seem awfully certain on the 2024 winner when candidates haven’t even been chosen. On the positive side, they must feel threatened by lots of service members.

Traitors like these are also signaling that successful careers require being enthusiastic Democrats, and Republicans need not apply. Many will conform to get ahead and those who don’t will be easy targets for persecution.
