Admittedly, it takes quite a bit to raise my blood pressure, but this is one of those real-world issues that does it. There are a lot of really good people in upstate New York and outside the boundaries of that crazy city they are best known for. The New York state assembly passing a bill [A416 LINK HERE] to set up involuntary COVID quarantine camps needs to be stopped right now. This is nuts.
The bill is obtuse in the extreme, and grants the state permission to remove and detain someone defined as “a significant threat to public health.” Those of you who have watched the creation of Quarantine Camps in Australia, and those who noted the ongoing activity in Australia seems designed to be a beta test for the USA, will quickly see the common thread with this proposal in New York.

Good grief, is there anything more anti-freedom than arbitrary power given to a governor and state bureaucracy that will enable the state to force people into detention camps.
The bill also says the government can, “require an individual who has been exposed to or infected by a contagious disease to complete an appropriate, prescribed course of treatment, preventive medication or vaccination.” That seems like this bill gives the state the right to detain anyone they want and forcibly vaccinate them.

NY A416, a Bill, was introduced in January 2021 by New York State Assemblyman N. Nick Perry. It has no sponsors, and has never been reported out of committee. He was nominated by Joe Brandon to the position of Ambassador to Jamaica, which is where he is from.
His Wikipedia page is interesting, to say the least. You might want to look at it before it is taken down or edited. It’s first lines are (currently) as follows:

There was a measles outbreak in Brooklyn, NY a few years ago (May 2019). De Blasio seemed to target Jewish communities with his "quarantining." The whole matter spawned debate on FR on vaccinations and quarantining before it was fashionable.
I am speculating...but I suspect this Bill gets reintroduced each year because there are elements in NY - be they nutcase NYC assemblymen or more "upstanding" pols - that want to effectively deal with "THOSE people."
The only difference between then and now, is the "Jewish Community" nowadays is anyone who looks sideways at shots that may lower your chance of contracting COVID19 for up to three months after the second injection, but which don't lower your risk of dying from this bug, you likely need boosters forever, they make you sicker initially than the placebo group, and we have zero long-term clinical trial data to see if maybe these shots are non-efficacious in the long-run...parenthetically such trials accompany all legitimately-tested vaccines but statistically there is a 59% chance that these shots would fail a kosher long-term clinical trial that should take about nine years if we really put safety first.

The concentration camp conspiracy theory isn’t unique to the right. The left accused the Bush administration of planning to incarcerate liberals in concentration camps. IOW, it’s something fear-mongers on both sides pull out anytime they need to whip up traffic to the websites. There’s plenty to worry about without freaking out of concentration camps.

I have no problem with anyone being concerned about concentration camps. Better to be called a crazy conspiracy theorist than to sit back and let it happen.
(Having noted that, only those who believe in central planning, i.e. statists / socialists, would actually think concentration camps are an idea worth implementing. Please refer to history.)

Your link is an interesting read. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with this bill, I hope the people of New York State are made aware of it and it’s implications. Plus the rest of the U.S. as well. Unless I missed someone else posting this, let us not forget the extreme shortage of ammo we experienced not too many years ago, and who bought it out from under the American public.
Government agencies that had no business having it in the first place bought billions of rounds. If someone has a link to a list of who bought what and how much, it might be worthwhile to post it ( if that info hasn’t been scrubbed).

Those scenarios are radically different and would have different outcomes. Besides, the "rules" for what is safe and what is dangerous are changing as you watch.
You can be certain that once detained, your name will be published, and your home marked with quarantine tape to prevent your unauthorized return.
Your home will be made a target for looters. It is part of the punishment for not being "fully vaccinated". You are not "fully vaccinated" of course. Otherwise, you could not possibly have tested positive. Oh, you were vaccinated. Well, it has expired, since it wasn't done this month. You are not in compliance with the new laws.
Off to the camps with you. Pack light. You won't be needing very much.
The Australians call them "Wellness Camps".
They are real and they are in operation now.
This is NOT federalism. It is an unconstitutional violation of the 5th and 14th amendment due process clauses.
