Admittedly, it takes quite a bit to raise my blood pressure, but this is one of those real-world issues that does it. There are a lot of really good people in upstate New York and outside the boundaries of that crazy city they are best known for. The New York state assembly passing a bill [A416 LINK HERE] to set up involuntary COVID quarantine camps needs to be stopped right now. This is nuts.
The bill is obtuse in the extreme, and grants the state permission to remove and detain someone defined as “a significant threat to public health.” Those of you who have watched the creation of Quarantine Camps in Australia, and those who noted the ongoing activity in Australia seems designed to be a beta test for the USA, will quickly see the common thread with this proposal in New York.

Good grief, is there anything more anti-freedom than arbitrary power given to a governor and state bureaucracy that will enable the state to force people into detention camps.
The bill also says the government can, “require an individual who has been exposed to or infected by a contagious disease to complete an appropriate, prescribed course of treatment, preventive medication or vaccination.” That seems like this bill gives the state the right to detain anyone they want and forcibly vaccinate them.

I thought this thread was about a bill in NY. But now you don't want to talk about that, you apparently want to talk about "the right of society" (whatever that is) to develop other rules to prevent infectious disease.

You decide whether it's worth the risk, take precautions, maybe hire a house sitter, and above all, you (not the authorities) decide how long you'll be away.

Difference being, you’re vacation status isn’t necessarily known to the government. Do you believe some bureaucrat wouldn’t communicate your incarceration to other agencies? A good portion of the population also lives paycheck to paycheck. Being put into a camp would mean financial ruin for many.

I find it amazing that Louisiana, Texas, Florida and other states aren’t in any sort of wild eyed panic and see no reason at all to round up anyone.
Isn’t it amazing the effort they look to be headed but not a word about rounding up the massive number o illegal immigrants Biden has allowed to enter this country? Just sick
NY just announced the closing of six prisons as of March 10, which could be converted to covid camps with a minimum of effort.
A few years ago, there was talk of using empty high rise buildings, as prisons.
Same principle.

Great work everyone is doing. Way to put up a fight. We are fighting also with the State of NY with a lawsuit. No one seems to know or care they can be put in a quarantine camp here in NY. We tried all the press we could. The only one who spoke to us was Real America’s voice on Steve Gruber. It’s insane. A quarantine camp and nobody cares.
That would be incredible, but not too surprising if true!
