New York (CNN Business)This year hackers have unleashed cyberattacks against pipelines, ferry boats, meat packers, even police departments. And now they've come for the cream cheese.
In October, a cyberattack against the largest US cheese manufacturer contributed to a nationwide cream cheese shortage shortly before the holidays, Bloomberg News reported, endangering holiday treats for millions.
Bloomberg reported the attack targeted plants and distribution centers. As a result, Wisconsin-based Schreiber Foods was unable to fully operate for several days — just as it was heading into its peak busy period before the Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas holidays.....

Here in NC there is plenty of cream cheese in the dairy section.
store brand of whipped butter for several months, although the national brand is there, for about 40% more.>>>> Store brands are sometimes made by the same manufacturer as other brands just under contract to use the store label/brand. Like Bimbo actually makes most of the brands of bread. They pronounce it Beembo.. So maybe they were short and just made their own brands. The store brand contracted at the lower rate as gets second fiddle.
Didn’t know that but it makes sense. Thanks.
Half way through your post I was getting worried that you were putting olives on your cheesecake.
Explain why I can’t find Diet Coke and Diet 7up
you scored.
socal, Walmart brand butter $2.98/lb Challenge $3.47/lb and KerryGold $3.48/8oz; costco store brand $10.99/4lbs, KerryGold $14.99/2lbs.
Interestingly, costco has no cream cheese and walmart has generic at $1.12, but only lowfat Neufchatel Cheese Philly at $1.96 for the 8oz brick package. All the ‘regular’ Philly ‘bricks’ are showing out of stock. The remaining stock is preflavored spreads or whips in tubs. Tillimook is also out of stock
wait...distributor caps?
Reason I con’t find it:
I’m not looking. Yukky stuff imho.
Just bought some at Walmart. They had lots.
No shortage here in E Central MO. Been hearing about this so-called ‘shortage’ for weeks but I’ve been able to buy cream cheese with no problem
Millennials don’t like the word “Diet”, instead the market sez Zero Sugar.
So, Coke Zero. Never seen 7Up Zero…
Aldi’s owned by Trader Joe’s. Seems like many house items are the same, just different labels.
Aldi’s quality much higher than it was years ago.
No problem finding cream cheese here in Maine, either.
Muuud...sha..sha....shark....
