Bud Select 55

Conceived to be “lightest beer in the world” at 55 measly calories, so basically a step up from pond water. Though one reviewer was kind enough to compare it to “bunny pee,” which is at least adorable.

The worst beer I ever had was Moskovskoye (Muscovite) beer, which I had when I visited the Soviet Union in 1972. It was just about the only available, and everyone drank it warm.

The better eateries offered Stella, an Egyptian beer, which was a lot better. We figured the Egyptians were exporting beer to the Soviet Union in exchange for the vast amounts of military aid they were receiving.

In 1966, SSgt. Barry Sadler sang an ode to Ba Mu'o'i Ba (33), the notorious Vietnamese beer. It was said to contain formaldehyde to keep it from going stale in Vietnam's tropical climate. I have actually had 33 beer from Vietnam, which is available in some specialty stores, and it isn't bad.

Probably the worst beer I ever sampled was a ‘smoked’ beer when I was stationed in Germany.

Going down? Tasted great! Two seconds later? It was as if I had licked a dirty ashtray! Can’t even imagine developing a taste for that. Yuck!

For the common good of mankind, it is no longer made but the worst beer I ever had was Billy Beer. I’m game sampling any beer and giving it a good chance. The only beer that I could finish was Billy Beer. There are no descriptions that remotely communicates how awful it was.
