The omicron variant of COVID-19 shows no signs of being less severe than the delta variant, according to a new study in the United Kingdom.
Researchers with Imperial College London, who analyzed PCR test-confirmed COVID-19 cases in England between Nov. 29 and Dec. 11, said their endeavor found "no evidence of Omicron having lower severity than Delta," judged by looking at "either the proportion of people testing positive who report symptoms, or by the proportion of cases seeking hospital care after infection."....
....The Imperial College London team also reported findings that show "the risk of reinfection with the Omicron variant is 5.4 times greater than that of the Delta variant. This implies that the protection against reinfection by Omicron afforded by past infection may be as low as 19%."
The work has not yet been peer-reviewed, but it was presented....

also saw Aljazeera today - omicron, omiron, omicron for hours -but then running the line that hospitalization in US is up 40% over November, or 25% over November and so on, depending on which State they mentioned. not once was a figure given for how many were hospitalized, much less how many were hospitalized for omicron as opposed to covid, nor if any were in ICU, etc.
who is in charge of doing the testing? even if the high number of positiv cases in UK/US for example are true, then great. let it rip. sooner the better.
dunno yet. If it’s ‘as’ severe as Delta re: hospitalization rate, we’re gonna need a whole lot more O2, minumum. If it evades monoclonals....we’re gonna need a whole lot more O2 for sure.

I recently watched the last Jame Bond movie and not to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet but its about a DNA specific programable virus developed in a government lab being stolen and used by the villain of course. Could not help but wonder if this is not what Tongzhi Fauci was trying to do when the Covid virus escaped. Perhaps he is still working on it. You can bet that if such an evil virus is ever developed it won’t be used to target our enemies. More likely the first priority will be to develop DNA targeting for people predisposed to patriotism, fear of God, and distrust of the government. That will certainly put me at the top of the list. How about you?

We need to look at the bright side of the Covid pandemic! It wiped out the flu and deaths by practically every other cause have been significantly reduced since Covid. At least according to reported cause of death on death certificates for the last couple years.
SA Admissions as well as Denmark admissions are definitely omicron - Denmark at 10% at 3=4 weeks after introduction. the UK sequences 1/4 of all positives - they’re probably the highest sequencing nation
Given that with Alpha/Delta symptomatic to death is median 28 days, not enough time has passed to see if there’s any difference in mortality of Omni towards anglo-saxons.

I saw one doctor who said that the area of South Africa that was affected and the source of claims that this was a mild version was populated by mostly young people and a population that had already been highly exposed to Coronavirus before.
Simply eat at home, don’t break the law.

The days in the UK in December are short and often cloudy.
Vitamin D levels are probably on the low side, making current UK data of questionably applicability in most of the US.
I’d caution not necessarily (it’s over)
now that Delta immunity has proven it’s not the be-all end all pandemic solution it was assumed to be, the other side of the question is: Will Omi-triggered immunity provide immunity against future variants or is the infection too mild to trigger future rapid Tcell response? That is, is Omi the end, or just a mortality-wise lull in the storm, but still a bad storm, with hospital admission numbers equal or higher than delta?
I think a lot of these ‘studies’ are just quasi scientific masturbation.
