Time of day matters in antibody response to COVID-19 vaccine (Take in the afternoon)

Our internal 24-hour circadian clock regulates many aspects of physiology, including the response to infectious disease and vaccination. A new study demonstrates that antibody levels are higher when people receive the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in the afternoon versus the morning. "Our observational study provides proof of concept that time of day affects immune response to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, findings that may be relevant for optimizing the vaccine's efficacy," said author Elizabeth Klerman, MD, Ph.D.

Symptoms of some diseases and the action of numerous medications vary by time of day. People with lung diseases frequently have greater symptom severity and altered respiratory function at certain times of the day, for example. A study of elderly men who received influenza vaccination showed that they had higher antibody titers when they received the vaccine in the morning compared with the afternoon. "Trials have shown that administering some chemotherapy agents at a specific time of day will effectively target cancer cells but limit toxicity to other cells," says Klerman.

The observational study evaluated antibody levels after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination among 2,190 healthcare workers in the UK. As part of the UK's infection prevention program, blood samples were collected from asymptomatic hospital workers at the time of vaccination. The researchers created a model to investigate the effect on antibody levels based on time of day of vaccination, vaccine type (Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine), age, sex, and the number of days post-vaccination.

The researchers found that antibody responses were higher in general for everyone who was vaccinated later in the day. The antibody responses were also higher in those who received the Pfizer mRNA vaccine, in women, and in younger people, in addition to the effect of time of day of vaccination.

The study contrasts with earlier studies in elderly men that reported higher anti-influenza titers in the morning.

If one still needs a vaccine dose, for the likely best antibody response, try to take it in the afternoon.

I will hop on one leg, and swing a chicken with my left arm. In the afternoon.
But I won’t take the vaccine.

Did the researchers also study the Moon phase. The Moon phase plays a role in effectiveness of the shots just as the Moon affects the tides.

Does this mean if you are forced to take it, take it early in the morning or late at night?

There were some suggestions for limiting the damage of the vaccine by immediately applying heat, taking extra vitamins, etc.

Yes, I can see that. But I'll wait to see what Dr. Fauci has to say about it.

To be sure, check your astrology charts.

Planet alignment is important for the shots to be effective.

My sources tell me that one should wait until the return of Halley’s Comet for the optimal effect.

I will burn incense and chant in a dead language rather than getting the ersatz vax. It will be just as effective and one hell of a lot less dangerous.

Well, that seems to explain some of the mystery of the fluctuating antibodies others have posted here.
