SHATTUCK, OK—As they do every year during the Christmas season, Fourth Street Baptist Church began a round of traditional Christmas carols. While singing the Christmas classic Deck The Halls, the congregation veered from the traditional lyrics and sang, “Don we now our straight apparel.”
“Satan has his evil influences everywhere nowadays, including our Christmas hymns,” said Pastor Buster Johnson while editing piles of sheet music lyrics with a black marker. “Vigilance is key.”
Johnson pointed out additional lines from the beloved classic that required editing:

Reminds me of a joke we did back in the day during one of our office Christmas parties. We always did a take-off on Johnny Carson’s “Carnak” bit, and one of the jokes was:
Answer: “Don we now our gay apparel.”
Question: “What do men say when they emerge from the Pioneer Square Steam Baths?”
The steam baths were/are a notorious gay rendezvous spot. Probably couldn’t do that joke anymore, but I’m retired.

I told him that the song was a quintessential example, since the do-woppers in the background were repeatedly singing "Beelzebub," and the main singer was actually expressing his worship of the demon. I had him convinced for about 15 seconds, until he realized that he was being dadlighted, and with irritation exclaimed, "DAD! IT'S DO-WOP-SHE-BOP!"
Since my workday is now over, I think I'll don some gay apparel.
Remember when Rush would play parodies of Bill Clinton singing “don Marines in gay apparel”?
Maybe they’ll throw in a line for pansexuals.
