Illinois-The driver fails to see stopped traffic and crashes into multiple cars at full speed.
this happened near us a few years ago. The trucker driver was watching on-line porn while driving on the highway.
No pre-impact skidding or braking. The driver was asleep, or distracted.
That had to be fatal or multiple fatal. Big time lawsuits...
Cell phone?
It’s quite common for LD truckers to fall into a haze, because the road just goes on and on.
Murderous runaway truck anyway. This is like the pistols that fire themselves (so says Alec Baldwin) and airplanes that just nose over and fly right down into the ground.
No operator error involved or considered at all.
No fatalities, lots of injuries though.
Very very odd that it was being recorded on cell phone. Almost like the person recording knew it was about to happen? Why would he be recording boring traffic out the back window? [There didn’t seem to be any real interesting vehicles like a Lamborghini or anything behind them]
Something doesnt smell right. What accept was that on the r3cording?
OK on second look, It appears that th3 camera was stationary, maybe built into the vehicle? but do these cameras always record? Wierd to say the least.
A lot of people have cameras set up on the front and back of a vehicle, in the event of an accident. It was just a good coincidence, I think, that the person was driving in parallel with the truth to get a clear video as to what happened.
My neighbor killed himself and severely injured other truck drivers because he probably dozed off. The truck he ran into was an empty flat bed and the bed pushed the cab off of that truck and that truck also was rammed into the truck in front of it. My neighbor’s cab just got demolished.
State troopers here told his wife that he came over a hill and was likely blinded by the sun. I looked on google maps earth view and it was flat corn country and the interstate was straight.
I also saw news articles with pics and noticed the truck he was driving had red painted rims but he used to drive a truck home that had polished Alcoa aluminum rims. It was a new somewhat self driving truck and he bitched about having gone through all that Class A training and now having a truck that drives itself.
I think he got used to that and then they stuck him in an older truck. He probably dozed off because he could do that in the self driver and got used to it.

I had a job, where I was working hellish hours and I ended up falling asleep while driving. I drove three or four blocks, in a straight-line, fortunately, without anything happening. If I had hit something it would have been at 40mph.
It happens to all of us. We are lucky and, unfortunately, he wasn’t.
Oh I didn’t know that. But I live in rural area, so it’s not big around here- I can see it in city areas to help prevent crime too though. We increasingly live in a recorded society I guess.
Look close, the driver made a slight swerve to the left a split second before the impact. Not asleep, just distracted.
Yep, jts amazing that we get through life alive, the ones that do,I mean. I used 5o drive long distances, and I had sleep apnea, so it was a real struggle staying awake at the wheel, and I’m certain a few 5imes I did actually doze off briefly. I didn’t even realize I had sleep apnea at the time. Sure enough I did. It really messes with a person when driving especially long trips. The road just seemed to lull me to sleep no matter how hard I tried to fight it. Fortunately it didn’t last long, and was able to correct it.
I had a driving instructor who also suggested getting a voice recorder that looked like a pen. The reason being is because, if you get into an accident that is not your fault, the person who caused the accident will probably admit it to you but he may deny responsibility when the police arrive. If you have him on voice admitting responsibility it could save your hide.
I did look close. There were no pre-impact skidding or braking as mentioned, and I stated the driver was asleep, or distracted...That's pretty clear, no?
I usually look out the rear view mirror because of things like this.
