China is mining much more coal again and that's boosting its factories

China's economy is finally getting some good news: Its big factories are staging a recovery as a power crunch that held back production starts to ease because of a big jump in coal supply.

A government survey of manufacturing activity increased to 50.1 in November from 49.2 in October, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Tuesday. It was the first reading above 50 — indicating expansion rather than contraction — in three months. It was also the first time since March that the index increased over the prior month.

Beijing on Tuesday attributed the improvement to "recent policy measures" that have strengthened energy supply and stabilized soaring costs.

The result was notable. China — which uses more than half the world's coal supply and is already the largest emitter of carbon — set a new daily record for coal production in mid-November, according to statistics from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

The agency's "strong interventions" mitigated the "overall power shortage" and eased cost pressures on some industries, analysts from Citi wrote in a Tuesday research report. The power woes had pushed up the cost of aluminum, steel and other raw materials, rippling through industries like carmaking and construction.

Shouldn't thunberg be weeping, wailing and generally gnashing her gums about
this shocking, egregious, and otherwise outrageous use of coal-based energy??

The coal trains are running nonstop here in North Idaho. The trains are now 125 cars long and haul 12,500 tons of coal They are hauling Wyoming Powder River Basin coal to the west coast ports and then to China.

We came up to a RR crossing on Friday just as the crossing gates were coming down for the next coal train. Fortunately, our wait was only four minutes. At the next crossing a couple miles to the west, a huge train was fully stopped blocking the roadway.

It still AMAZES me how easily China blew past us economically, without anyone here even noticing.

China is expanding its coal use, coal for coke use and steel plants. They import coal from as many sources as they can get while we ramp down energy production necessary to support our current population and industrial base which must use fossil fuels as well to support green energy agendas. There is nothing green re green energy, I think.

China has all its coal in its West. Its manufacturing centers are in its East and close to the ocean for exports. The Chinese railway system for coal transport is still very poor.

This makes it lots easier and cheaper to import coal from Australia, USA and Canada.

So we live in perfect GOPe globalist world where we off shore our industry to under cut the US work force to China that gets to import back to us almost duty free. We in turn ship them food and raw material. So how are we not a colony of China? Thanks Goldman Sachs Bushie/Republicant's and Free Trairtors™...
mercantilism, economic theory and practice common in Europe from the 16th to the 18th century that promoted governmental regulation of a nation’s economy for the purpose of augmenting state power at the expense of rival national powers. It was the economic counterpart of political absolutism. Its 17th-century publicists—most notably Thomas Mun in England, Jean-Baptiste Colbert in France, and Antonio Serra in Italy—never, however, used the term themselves; it was given currency by the Scottish economist Adam Smith in his Wealth of Nations (1776).

Mercantilism contained many interlocking principles. Precious metals, such as gold and silver, were deemed indispensable to a nation’s wealth. If a nation did not possess mines or have access to them, precious metals should be obtained by trade. It was believed that trade balances must be “favourable,” meaning an excess of exports over imports. Colonial possessions should serve as markets for exports and as suppliers of raw materials to the mother country. Manufacturing was forbidden in colonies, and all commerce between colony and mother country was held to be a monopoly of the mother country.

YEP, but I don’t want to be a broken record, so I won’t repeat the contributing factors.

<>It still AMAZES me how easily China blew past us economically, without anyone here even noticing.<>

Well, candidate Trump in his June 2015 escalator speech noticed and singled out the CCP.

As President, he put America first and renegotiated trade with the Chicoms, Canada and Mexico.

He disrupted the CCP gravy train payola to the Bidens, Congress and the Deep State.

He had to be taken out.
