I was just listening to Zappa and Beefheart playing Orange Claw Hammer live in the studio: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oCDXhvXye9E

I loved this album in the day and still do. It was kind of weirdly different from things he had done in the past.

I too saw Zappa live a couple times. Once in the 80s at a New years eve show... Great times were had.

Time to give it a listen.

I enjoyed Zappa more when he wasn’t making noise, err, music.

That particular track is the first one that I can remember that had heavy usage of the wa-wa pedal. A device that legend says he had a hand in creating. I don’t know if that’s true and I’m too lazy right now to research it... Anyone know?

While I found Zappa to be an intelligent and interesting individual, I was never a fan of his music. A number of my friends were, so I did get to listen to him at gatherings.

I made an effort to see the Mother’s Day shows. Great players, all of them.

They were indeed. Frank insisted on the finest performances from the finest musicians. And he got both.

That’s exactly how I feel. He was a super bright guy who was fascinating to listen to.

Brad plunkett invented it. People get stories mixed up.

Zappa supposedly gave Hendrix his first wah pedal or so it goes.

Time to give it a listen.

One of my many Zappa favorites. BTW, "Weasles ripped my flesh" is one of them too.

I wonder if this is a favorite song of Richard Levine’s?

Caught Dweezle’s show a few yrs ago. One heck of a good guitar player in his own right.

What’s new in baltimore is always a good listen, especially with the numerous varieties on the YCDTOSA live albums. Tons of great Zappa songs, too many to mention really.

Jazz discharge party hats is also fun.
